I read in profiles all the time that men and women insist he/she must be slim, must be this, must be that. People write a receipe of what they are looking for and imply "it has to be".

If you know that you have a tendency to lie, are you looking for someone who has the integrity that you don't have?

If you are overweight, are you looking for someone who is slim and goes to the gym everyday?

The question is, in looking for someone to love, are you looking for an identical twin of yourself or do you want the person to be on a higher pedestal than you put yourself on?

My view is when you go fishing don't take a rod with a single line take a large net , don't always cast close to home , wade out a bit , doing this your chance of catching something greatly improves , you may not always catch the perfect fish but with a bit of seasoning most fish taste fine and if you don't like the look of it throw it back in . Would i want to hook another me , no way grin

snuggs99: HJ, I think you are a sincere person, intelligent and I believe has integrity. Are you looking for someone with the same personality as you have even with any faults you may have?

Well my dear lady, to be perfectly honest, I ain't lookin..wink

I am a VERY FIRM believer that for any relationship to work, BOTH parties must be available on 4 planes. "TO ME", those are spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional. At the present time and with my present circumstances I do not honestly think I am emotionally available.wink

As most know, I am caregiver to my mother. It often sucks the life out of me. I "feel" that at times I would drain a lady emotionally and I would not do that to another.

Would it be nice to have someone to hold me on my bad days? You damn right it would be. Would I want to place another in that position? NO!!! I am a giver and not a taker..frustrated

I like this thread.thumbs up Everyone has their preferences but the fact is this, as nice a person as I might think that I am, I 'm not looking for my twin. If we are looking past the exteriors of a person then I would say the best bet is to find a complimentary soul that matches ours.wine

Pat......I know what it's like to be a caretaker of a parent. I was that of both parents at different times. I relate to your concern of draining a lady emotionally and that is why I'm not looking at the present time. It's not fair to transfer my woes to someone else so I'm just staying true to who I am and at the same time getting so much better with keeping my past in the past. I am a very generous person and I was too generous financally with my last love. The urge to love and to give is still within me, however. right now is me time. To answer my own question, no, I wouldn't want a twin of myself.

Snuggs all of us have things we are looking for in a partner. Whether she will have them once we find her nobody knows. Our heart takes over once we find someone. The profile requires each of us to type something. I found that over time there were certain things I wished for!!!! It is sort of like ordering something at an onlined retail store. You must tell them what you are asking. Even with them you sometimes don't get what your order.

I have yet to see a profile that ask to find an ugly, fat, stupid mate! Many don't say anything at all. Some are full of funny stuff. Profiles are like people; all different. That a good thing. We all get to decide in this 'game' what we want. None of knows what we will get however.
