I went out to a dinner party last night .. a small farewell for some family returning to SA.....
Starters was a salad - lettuce and tomato with a tasty dressing, and Ruchbrot. Main meal was home-made Spätzli with mushroom sauce - the meat (dont know the name) a smoked sort of Kässler ...... then coffee, .. later was icecream with cream and home-made chocolate sauce ... then liquers ... I had a Quince alcoholic thing that nearly blew my brains out!

Nope,no Wine,Water and Coffee.Got served,and the day before ordered our Choices between 3 or 4 different Meals.
Breakfast was Buffet-style with all sorts of stuff,including Fruit.
The Meals of Course were prepared with out ailments in mind.
Especially for Cardiac Patient,and a bit more stringent for those that were suffering from Diabetes as well.
But there was plenty leeway otherwise.
Balanced with some Meat,Veggies and Salad.Fruit as well.
The Krankenkasse just sent me a Bill for some of that "Vacation".

I've just cooked an excellent meal at lunch today for some friends but last time out was last Friday night at a very nice restaurant on the open-air top terrace in Xlendi - overlooking Xlendi bay....... very beautiful.
The service was excellent and nothing wrong with the food - all I had was a starter pasta dish and I picked at it and only ate about a quarter. I had a bottle of water and a bottle of peach juice and then helped my dinner companion finish her large bottle of wine - luckily she was driving and not me!

smoky: Well, that`s the recipe maybe, but this stuff !!! I`m sure if I breathed out and lit a match - I could have set everything on fire!
That stuff is, I`m sure, must be 100% alcohol?! Cant see the point in serving stuff like that - unless you want everyone to fall down drunk? Its got no real taste - just FIREWATER!

In SA, the public hospitals have degenerated right down to family bringing the food to the patients!!!!!.. and then the nurses collect all the left-overs to send home with the visitors to the rural areas - for the hungry - and the kids with no parents.....
