Just wondering if there is protocol on contacting people from your past.. i have stumbled onto an old friend on facebook ( at least i think its them ) and am wondering whats the best way to initiate contact without sounding like a stalker ( red take note rolling on the floor laughing ) or sounding silly if its not the right person

Maybe try sending an email stating "I think I know you, do I?"
If things are on the good, and they remember you, they will write back.
I've done that before, got a very scathing email back, seems that they rememeber a situation a touch differently then I had. Guess that bridge burned. lol.

Last year I had a woman contact me on FaceBook...

She is the current partner of an ex of mine...

Wanted to know if I was me, and as my name is unusual, she guessed right.

Boyfriend was from when I was 15 - guess I made an impact!

Just send an add friend request and don't write anything. It's a bit nonchalant and thus saves you any embarassement.
