Nettermann: well animals are not toys for humans and should live free in nature!

Domesticated animals have lost their ability to live "free" as there is nothing for them to hunt or live off anymore - they now depend on Humans to feed them.

Wild animals, yes, in Circus`s and Zoos - yes, they need freedom too - but there is no more wild places for them to live. So that mind-thought does not apply anymore. There is barely enough space left on this planet for the humans to live!

.....................

You replied to my posting .... so I just want to qualify something added further down by Conrad about them being Omnivores ..... I did also feed my dogs (once a week) with raw meaty bones. Dogs MUST have raw bones to chew - it`s good for their teeth, they need the bone-marrow in their diet.... and they love to lie and gnaw - its part of their culture... and makes them contented and happy.

I get horified when people deny their dogs bones - for some weird reasoning they have that their dog will choke on a bone!doh Dogs who don`t get bones - big strong marrow bearing bones they can gnawNOT tiny sharp little bones! - end up with caries on their teeth... and worms in their guts - if they don`t get some raw meat in their diet.

Nettermann: and you are proud about that?

I am betting with myself that Phoenix has the "O" blood group?

O blood group people NEED meat in their diet - they have the gastric juices to digest it. Theirs is the Original blood group - the Hunters.

A blood groups are the Agrarians (Agricultural) - when people settled down and began to grow crops - and eat more vegetables - better suited to a vegetarian diet..........

If an O blood group person tried eating vegetarian they will develop a lot of health problems.

So.... never scoff at what other people eat.

I absolutely LURVE big bags of maize corn ..... and big heaps of maize meal swimming in butter ..... with crispy fried lamb cutlets full of crispy fat! I`d choose that any day over ANY meal in ANY fancy restaurant ... especially if I left in solitude to eat and read a good book - in total silence!

But then I can`t eat another piece of meat for about 6 months!

Not bad, huh?... for a hunter/gatherer?...... catch a little sheep twice a year? for a treat?

thumbs up MEAT boy! You gotta eat MEAT! Don`t listen to anybody who tells you otherwise!

But,...... NO coffee for you. Or peanuts!

All you need in your diet is LOTS of Vitamin C .......(red peppers is your best reward for that)

No I am not a veggie,I eat all sorts,fish,fruit,veg,meat...also I am type O,so thanks for that Smokey. Sometimes I just know when I,ve been eating too much meat and eat loads of fruit and veg to clear the system out.Funny,I can consume a lot more non meat food (fruit and veg)at one sitting than I can meat and feel a lot lighter afterwards.

BTW Had a great friend, god bless his soul, who was a veggie fitness fanatic, did all the right things (as opposed to me who does a bit of all, good bad and indifferent)and at fifty he was dead from leukemia.I swear it was to do with his diet and lifestyle. So there you go you lickle ickle veggies you,be careful.dancing

I was vegetarian for four years some time ago and put on weight, so I went back to including meat in my diet and quickly lost the weight.

I do think that there are advantages to excluding meat from one´s diet for a number of reasons, but unfortunately many vegetarians or vegans do not know how, and what to eat in order to sustain good health.

My view is that everything is fine in moderation. Meat, if organic is best, particularly if cooked well, not fatty or fried, and fish is exceedingly healthy.

I draw the line at a very popular meat dish here in Spain though....rabbit! laugh

smoky: What would be strange about a Vegan having pets? ..... At that time, when I forgo`d flesh eating I had a whole barnyard full of them .... 5 dogs, a cat, 20 chickens, a tortoise ..... and guess what?.... the dogs were vegetarians!

Before someone begins an argument with me about that ..... you`ve never seen or smelt a cleaner dog ..... they had sweet breaths, clean shiny eyes, and healthy fur - and they were super intelligent.

Smokes - I just asked a question - I never inferred "strange" far from it.

I just wondered that if a person/s who takes that huge step and frees themselves of eating animal products may also free themselves of requiring bred animals for comfort.

True, smoky, but who is to blame for the fact that domestic animals or animals living in Zoos and Circus cannot live anymore free in nature, yes ,sad to say it but its the human kind frustrated
So that's the reason why i dont want to own a pet and i dont mind if other people keep pets as long as they keep them well.
Like i said, in my opinion animals are not toys nor products that we can eat.

Well if each one behave like you we wouldnt have factory farmings and not so much animal harming, other people should learn a lesson from you instead of eating each day mass of meat

Wanna be more specific ? You can say I don,t agree,I think you are mistaken,I don,t share your point of view, but your comment that what I said (whatever it was) is stupid is in fact a million timers more stupid than anything I said. Tis not good to insultingly dismiss what other people say just because you do not agree with it.This is an open forum and I am entitled to express my opinion as much as anybody with having what I say deemed stupid.grin

Hi Janwave My younger sister is like that - she eats absolutely masses of raw stuff - believing that it is good for her - yet she gains weight on it. Her family call what she eats "Gorilla food" - and she`s about the size of a Gorilla! (she`s not into date sites so I know I`m safe writing that!grinha ha hhaaa she`d kill me! )

I agree with you that a varied diet, all things in moderation, is the safest and best.

I also can`t eat Rabbit - conjures up images of fluffy bunny!

Now I also can`t eat chicken - after watching a documentary of how they go thru the factory being sliced up into perfect pieces! Also, I seen too many little weak bent legs to believe the creature had any sort of worthwhile life.....

If one thinks about it .... all the animals who eat only green stuff ..... look at the SIZE of them! Gorillas, Elephants, Rhinoceros, Cows, Horses ............confused

Oh sorry, did not mean any harm, just maybe used wrong wording in my replyhug

When people live alone, they got no other body for some touch, so having a pet is good. Have you ever seen the experiments with elderly abandoned people living in institutions?...also children..... where the person is given a small dog as a pet, and their health improves? ...with children it happens the same, they calm down and become more contented and happy.

Being living entities - the exchange of touch reduces the electrical build-up in the nerves - and they soothe each other.....

The humble "dog" - reverse his name - and he becomes ...........?

Heard the story about how God walked around the earth naming the creatures, and at his side this little faithful animal walked. Until in the end there were no more names to be given. And little dog asked "What about me?" And God said I give you my name, but in reverse, so you are not recognised, and whatever is done to you, is as good as done to me".
