I have come to realize that being free, truly free and living our one and only life the way we want to live it, without fear of reprisal from some government, or partner, or family, or church or any institution is the most significant gift we can give ourselves and our children. And living free takes courage. So few people in the world live in countries where individual freedom exists but live in fear of being deemed an enemy of the state and being imprisoned or killed. We were all born originals but most of us die copycats. Everyone has been given a unique gift and dream and talent/s which they and they alone can use to better themselves and those around them. It is up to each of us to choose freedom, and life, and our own path. Each of us must choose our own emancipation proclamation. Why not now?

Freedom starts at home, the way we are raised. Thefore we have more restricted families than others regardles neighbors or institutions. At home, you learn what's enough to want, feel or think. Then you grow up, it's your turn to deal with the institutions. You may have gone too far. Take it, fight it for everyones sake, or leave it.
I've been too fresh all my life until I came to NL. I'm finally home like I never felt before. I asked my German friend, why he never told me I was Dutch, because he knows me for years. I must say that I've started dealing with Institutions in Portugal since before, mama did everything for me. So, I've just grown always free. When the time came, I said: "Mama, now I wanna go to Portugal." That's my real storry.
You will always be restricted by Institutions-bureacracy for example, takes time, time that can sometimes ruin a part of your life. You will always be restricted by society. You can't really scream how much you hate somebody or group of people. On the one hand, because things take time, they don't always depend on me, because I must wait...then I'm not totally free. On the other hand, if I accept all these realities and live accordingly, I can adjust my freedom to the best. But as a principle, the society must live me alone-this is the ultimate freedom!
I don't how far your question wants to take the freedom! I believe we compromise with each of your categories; government, partner, family church or others. If not, you are stating that you probably would live on a desert island with no outside influences.
We each limit our freedoms to enjoy what others do. I could not imagine living without a government that doesn't build roads, bridges, provides orderly protections, etc. Also, my family is a huge part of me! I am on CS to find a partner; so yes I expect to compromise and adjust to enjoy her. Lastly, I am a man of faith and believe and adjust accordingly to its teachings.
I do these things...I decided this is right for me...This is my form of freedom...It works for me.

BJ i understand what you are saying but what im trying to say is we all at some point in our life sit and wait for something to happen, whether that something is big or small, we get comfortable allowing something or someone to dictate what and how we deal with issues, good or bad, not realizing the we are the ones stopping ourselves from being what we really are, and living life to the maximum.
Sultryash and Cristina, I loved your posts. There are very few places where individual freedom exists. The USA has always been considered one of them, but we're losing our individual freedoms daily, and soon won't have any of them left at all, so I can no longer say that I'm a free citizen because I live here. Blessings to those who live in countries where those freedoms we all have a right to are respected. One of these days I may join you there.
However, as much as I am able to within the law, I am a free individual who thinks and acts for myself. I have divorced men who have tried to control me, and my family sure discovered that they couldn't do that anymore by the time I was 16 (my first wheels were my first gift of freedom). I follow my own path, and live my life the way I see fit. And hopefully, I've found someone who fits well within it, or at least respects that as I respect the right of all others to do so.
