There is an organisation with over a million people world wide that you can join and stay totally free anywhere in the world!
You stay at the homes of members and just go and buy food to cook there. You can be single or a couple.
You have the opportunity to offer the same free service to other members - they can come and visit you and just go and buy their own food.
I love visiting other countries - visiting friends and families is what I like best but this extends my ability to travel and hotels can be VERY expensive if for more than just a few days!

I love having friends come and visit me......... and I mean friends (they do NOT have to be lovers). It's a real joy to help others have a great vacation and I love visiting friends too...... this membership thing is obviously not a friendship thing but a great help in travelling cheaply round the world!

There is also an organisation where you can exchange houses for holidays. You spend your holidays in someone's house in Paris while the French people are in yours. They can use your car but also have to feed cats & dogs, water the plants, ...

House sitting sites are also available. I have a g/f who has done this locally on many occasions when she had her own property rented out. She stayed in some lovely homes, which sometimes came with the resposibility for walking the pooch or feeding the cats(s). I had occasion to visit her in a few such homes, and also a girls' night with middle eastern banquet, inspired by one particular home being furnished in lavish Egyptian decor.

In my case, I have been doing that anyway, sometimes buying some/all my own food, anyway. Mostly with various relatives and other times, a few people I have met on the internet, including a psychiatrist I met on his 'chronic pain' site. He ended up inviting me to the clinic for 2 weeks, and stayed at his mansion with him and his wife, one of the richest families in Maryland! I think it's wonderful meeting new people like that, and would welcome same at my home. Particularly playing host...it really does force you to get out and about, and show off our wonderful state:)

Same here.... but in my case small villa garden instead of my own state; plus my own psychosis is all naked to see and free instead of me making money from other people's mental illnesses!

Lee is right...... just got given the link by my friend in Malta..... I think it makes sense - I'm happy to pay hotel accommodation for a week or two in NZ but more than that gets a bit expensive - plus I would get to meet interesting people instead of staying in a 'bland' hotel!
