What it says about me? - I guess it tells people that I am not materialistic - my values are more focused on things/issues that doesn`t cost anything - but to me they are far more important.
Oh - and I will of course also bring my beloved PC!!

Hiya Kitty!
I think you're great - I'd find you irreplaceable if only I had you in the first place!
Material things mean nothing to me either - save a few photographs and if they went at least I'd have a few wonderful memories!
smoky: What things have you recently dispensed with, or could easily give away, because they no longer reflect either you or your interests?
What things are part and parcel of the current you? :chatting emoticon:
I dispense of nothing, but then I cannot. They are all a part of me. Each item has been bought for a purpose. It is a part of my life and my history.
All the things around me form the person I am.
What do people think about me as seen through my things? Could'nt care a hoot. But most would appreciate that it takes a lot of space, effort and investment to be able to source a little bit of everything that make life a little spicier and exclusive, like period furniture, 150 year old grandfather clocks, old machinery, classic and vintage cars, valve radios, windup horn gramophones.
Looking at my collection is a walk through history from about 200 years back to the present day. And what a timewrap that is!!
When I feel too upset with the present day world, I retreat into the world that was.

That is nice Antcus! To create your own little world where you feel good and comfortable.
Don`t you feel, sometimes, that those old things retain memories of their original owners? ..... Good ......Bad ......

It is very difficult to trace the original owners. At most one has the name of the previous owner, but not the aquaintance of the individual. There are other things that I know the previous owners of, and these are the items I have inherited from my family and my wife's family. My wife's things are very special, and they bring both good and sad memories, but the important thing is that they are in safekeeping with me.
Having moved many times, and around the world, it´s been virtually impossible to retain anything except my clothes and suitcases.
However, I have always kept photos of family, ex students, friends etc, along with Mothers Day or Birthday cards made for me by my children when they were young.
Now that I´m settled in Spain, my personal belongings are accumulating in the knowledge that I probably won´t have to give them up, but I still have little that I would hate to part with.
I like change, and few material things hold any great sentimentality for me.
I don´t really know what that says about me though.

So, if you have a new lady-friend, how would she feel living amongst all those memories?
......oOo.....
Slightly off topic, nothing to do with your post Antcus - just something amusing that happened to me once upon a time....
I had this gentleman friend and we moved in together to his house - and he had this photo of his ex-wife hanging in the diningroom ....... so his children felt "at home" when they visited. So I had a nice photo of my ex-husband enlarged and framed and hung it in the diningroom too - stating its for the same reason he has.
The next day he decided to remove his ex`s photo, and asked if I`ll remove mine!

When I moved here 4 years ago I disposed of half my belongings as I didn't know where, or how big, my home here would be. My most treasured possessions are my family photographs and every card I have had from my children for birthdays, Christmas and Mothers Day since they were tiny.
I am quite ruthless now, and try not to collect clutter but my laptop is invaluable for keeping in touch via skype with my family and friends in the UK, so must hang onto that!
Have to confess to a large collection of sparkling white well pressed bedlinen and towels though, it's my only weakness.
