The least among us are often the best Not always in referral to greatness More speaking about a personality Before the dive to the abysmal bottom How lofty and often one may speak May never never again be reached The genius that tries be-riddles me Makes a mockery of my freedom The giants among us all still rivals All the attention so badly needed To separate the good from the bad Where nothing so spectacular as evil Ever rule over our hearts and minds So sojourn on my soldier friends Marching to the drumbeat called liberty I follow only that what I can defend And share hope like rays of sunlight Breaking through the dense darkness Above the shouts does freedom cry

About this poem:
Abstract about the loneliness and solitude of conviction, about the desire for freedom and liberty. Independence and Unity that march side by side is stronger than the forces that separate them.
There are so many kinds of freedom, I think the most powerful is the one we give to ourselves when we let go (we will never forget) the chains we put around our souls or the one's we allow others to put there. It's so hard to realise that they are there until you lift them up and release the weight of them.
Mick, I'm often amazed of meaning of two very diverse words..... liberty and unity. I think freedom is more closely aligned to liberty and certainly much more individualist versus unity which is more closely aligned to peaceful coexistence. Can you really enjoy one without the other? Chris
Lady, For years, as a civil servant I have worked many long hours. Often, I have deprived myself of many things that would naturally be more desirable than the hard physical labor. Now only a couple days away from retirement, I am feeling a tremendous weight being lifted off from me.
Yankee, very preponderant thoughts here. America is far from living with freedom, liberty or unity. Evil is dominating all levels of society. If everyone can't see that we need an urgent awakening; God, have mercy on all of us. Hope you enjoy your deserved retirement, my dear poet. SM

hi Chris. sometimes liberation is possible only through unification, which is necessary to separate oneself from the forces of evil. but SM is right, the world is very far from liberty now. It’s hard to say what is Preponderating in the world now. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Enjoy your retirement soon. Lily

Those giants among us are usually driven by enlarged egos in search of self praise.
Liberty is best achieved in contentment.
Mick.

Those only we can remove.
Hope you enjoy your deserved retirement, my dear poet. SM
