I think all politicians start out with grand intentions to change the world. But as the saying goes..."The road to hell is paved with good intentions" they get corrupted by the power of it. Or something. I went to school with the brother of our current congressman. He was a nice guy with great ideas. I can't stand him now that he has been in congress for a while. So in answer to your question. No being involved in politics in this country makes not a bit of difference because of the corruption from all parties.
Man now that sounds a bit pessimistic. Sorry, just my opinion.
