sigh. typical republican fear mongering propaganda. President Obama's the best thing that's happened to this country in years. And yes, I'm a patriotic citizen of this country, and also a Christian. However, this country is not just comprised of Christians, nor whites, nor Republicans, OP, and the sooner you accept that, the easier life's gonna be for you, I promise.

alexey8: Well, this is the problem...is that capitalism has gone to far. Its a wonderful system as long as everyone plays fair and people don't get greedy, but unfortunately their are some people out their who have gotten really greedy and through their own greed and interests have driven some of the biggest companies, corporations, industries, banks, and so on to the ground.

The problem is if the government helps them, they are not regulated and they are still greedy, and its the tax payers who are paying, and the tax payers that are hurting. The CEO's are fine. But, if the government doesn't help these companies then they fail, which in a free market system should be allowed to happen. However, in these cases this would create a mass unemployment, and also major industrial loss for the US.

So, its a tough situation for the government. Although, I like the idea that instead of the government using bailout money for these companies, they use the billions of dollars for bailouts for the people, give each person in the country 1 million dollars. It would be cheaper then the bailouts, it would wipe out the majority of people's debts....and it would boast the economy. Because, when people have a lot of extra money, they SPEND. I think if the government is going to be hanging out billions of dollars, why not give it to the people?

I like the way they think in Moscow!thumbs up applause

StephanieH: Because Obama IS their doing. Obama, Bush son, Bush father etc etc. Since the establishment of your Federal Reserve, your leaders are whoever the Bankers want them to be. They Finance them, they control their agenda and all goes exactly as decided previously at the famous Bildeberg Meetings.
And no, this is not a Conspiracy Theory. Theories don't harm Countries and don't kill or alienate people. Realities, facts do.
Some say that the last true FREE President you had was Kennedy. Kennedy was the one who tried to fight back. Listen to some of his speeches and you will notice that he mentions many things on the subject.

You are smart and right on girl

Ya know, actually, this makes a lot of sense! You are right in that people would spend more since they'd have more to spend. And for every perchase, there's tax, so in essence, some of the money handed out by the gov would return while at the same time, improve the economy.
Too bad it's not that simple. The gov had already tried this on a much lesser scale, but perhaps with a revision to up the amount to 1 mil per citizen, could make a positive impact. Of course there would also be negative impacts as well, what with drug users and money abusers (corporate mongers) and others who cannot manage money, and then there's scammers who would bring on a newer and greater level of their operation...etc.

But it would be quite interesting to see how this would play out overall.

....Bingo....well said Good Sir....And to answer your question on, why the Government doesn't 'give it to the people'....Because the Corporations does not want that to happen...And who 'controls' and 'pulls the strings' in so called Government that suppose to represent the will of the people ....the Corporations....

I agree. I think Obama is honest and earnest and is trying hard to improve our country.

And my American pedigree reaches back at least until the 1600's, so I'm as qualified to have an opinion as most of you.

Democrats never fear-monger the way Republicans have the last few decades. I have never received the kind of hateful pass-along e-mails from my Democrat acquaintances, even when the other party was on top, that I have received from Republicans who spread hate and fear.

SoldierByte: He LIED.. completly changed his stance
and started sliding into the libral from hell
camp and just keeps getting worse..
Whom he is NOW..
is NOT whom the people voted for..!!
---SoldierByte---

Sorry guy, before you criticize Obama you should also consider that Obama cant take each decision alone, he needs the approval of the Congress and Senat.Secondly he is under the pressure of a very powerfull lobby, so his decisions are often influenced by them. So if you consider him as a liar well then all the presidents before him were liars too professor I hope you know that wars are not waged to establish democracies in several countries ( for example Iraq, Afghanistan,Vietnam etc) or to fight against terrorism but the Unites States make war on several other countries for financial and geostrategical reasons and to financially support the gun industry.

hollandgirl: These bankers should be deeply ashamed of them selves.
The people bailed them out and now they are receiving millions as bonuses.
Why is Obama not making these bankers pay back the bail out money?
Some have paid back I understand

So if you don't keep industry and commerce going and give the money to the people instead, what do they spend their money on ? Imports !! Due to letting national businesses colapse and rebuild again. That would take a damaging amount of time and you still need to trade with the rest of the world remember. And where does this money come from as national debt is already +10 trillion owed to the Chinese and Japanese. That needs to be paid back, by industry, taxes etc. If everyone is suddenly that rich who would want to work, may as well cose down the universities etc, they won't be needed for a whole generation. Industry will go on hold.

Nice idea in theory, and yes it is gut wrenching to think of the greedy banks being subsidised by us, the tax paying rescuer but how can that system be allowed to colapse?? Any new administration can't simply change things imediately, there is a massive legacy to clear up first along with international bridges to build. The reality is that USA can't be self sufficient, very few countries can be. Population expansion and product saturation etc.

The banks must now be regulated, nationalized even. They are the ones with the power to control for their own profit, it is madness to let them have a free hand. The subprime mortgage scam has been blown and caused world wide ramifications, what is next ?
