So here it is.

The way I was raised is probably different than most here. My grandfather is an avid hunter. Black powder season has started and he bagged a turkey yesterday and tomorrow night we will have it in a soup.

I have eaten turkey, deer, bore, raccoon, possum, frog legs, gator tail, and rabbit all wild in all different ways.

Have any of you ever killed and eaten anything wild? If so what?

I went out last week and shot my first deer for the season. Now I'll have plenty of venison to fill my freezer.

Venison in great put in homemade chili and place it in a cast iron dutch oven and simmer on low.

My dad grew up in South Dakota and he and my uncle hunted everything in the area.

Seems like you have quite a varied menu to choose from..
I'm not wanting to disgust anyone..
as I have HAD to eat "things" due to
"occupational" hazzards..
so let me just add..
sloth, wild boar, ants, and varied insects.
as some of the more "wild" and "out of the ordinary"
cusine I've endured..

Thanks for sharing. I like the fact that the people can still live off the land. This is something I have found is normal in the US. I live in California and all meat is wrapped in white paper.

I have not killed anything, but I have sure had the pleasure of eating me some deer meat. I love deer meat. I remember when I was very young that my dad could not get me to eat any. I finally tried it one day and just moved him out of the chair and finished up. I love it just about any way you can cook it.

I would try other things if someone brought them to me ready to cook. I have a problem with cleaning them, then eating them. I don't know what it is. No problem eating them as long as they are ready to throw in the pan.

Would I go hunting?....Oh yes, I think that I should know how to hunt, clean it and killing it, and prepare the meat. At the rate the economy is going over here, you never know when the knowledge will come in handy.
