Used to eat worms, spiders and anything else that wiggled as a kid.... happy to say I havn't grown out of that ethos.... just moved on to bigger stuff... will try anything once, just to make sure I don't like it even though it may look horrible.

Tell my boys to do the same.... try it, then say you don't like it, but never say you don't like the look of it.... have found some wonderfull food this way

I know a lot of people that kill about 3-4 deer a year and stock them in the freezers, and that is what they eat on instead of buying a lot of meat at the store. I keep asking someone to bring me some meat. Years ago it was no problem at all to get free dear meat. Now, nobody will get off of it. They told me they would kill me one and bring it to me so that I could take it to the meat processing plant. What am I suppose to do....put the dang thing in my hatchback. I can kill the thing myself. I have them everywhere. I need someone to carry it to the meat processing plant for me.

My Southern California daughter, moved to Wisconsin. It happened to be deer season. She called it carnage. She said every home had a deer hanging on the front porch and a head at the curb next to the trash can.

Ive had about anything from squirrel to bear, pronghorn antelope was good, but a little strong. The best roast turkey Ive ever had was a wild turkey. I happened to get it just before thanksgiving. Not at all dry like a lot of store bought turkey.bouquet

That must be the Lowland breed. The Scottish mountain Haggi are much hardier and wiser. I find a yodle rather than a whistle tends to work best ......scold professor laugh

I did....you can't get anyone around here to help you do anything. That's why I take it upon myself to just do it all. Yes, I've heard that deer meat is a lot leaner than other meats. I eat chicken a lot. I enjoy a good Ribeye, but I don't eat one very often.

I'm ready for a stew now!laugh

I do feel cheated when it comes to this type of Americana. I am a native, with no hope of the natural ways.
