If you truly believe they wanted lives of drudgery, still births as commonplace events, using potatoes for prolapsed wombs so they could continue to work, no money for food or heating most of the time, leaking roofs, generations of one family living in 2 rooms etc then you need your head feeling - its fighting out of such penury and the empty promise of a better life in the here after that is very much helping britain to become atheist.....
the only thing that ever helped those people to a better life was their own selves and the likes of Charles Bradlaugh and Richard Carlisle, amongst others who's efforts towards social reform opened the eyes of opressed millions.
To say that the freedoms won by the victorian social reformists was god given has to be the biggest insult yet.... well done, you have excelled yourself on this one - many of them were atheists too by the way, people who dont give a fig about rewards in heaven as the improvements for the millions of underprivileged in the here and now (or there and then lol) was ample reward in itself.....
