Why does CS sign me back in when I have signed out and click on another tab that is still open? I have not put my password in, it just signs me right back in. I may be reading a forum thread and click to a new page after being signed out already and *click* I am back signed in.

Can that be fixed so it does not happen anymore?

Are we not allowed to view CS unless we are signed in? I don't like the idea of someone being able to sign in as me and post things if I do not close my computer down.

If you have two tabs open on the same site, when you sign out of one the other is still active, so close all tabs before signing out. You have no problem it's the same with any site your on.

Sorry to tell you but it only does it here. It never signs me back in in any other sites. I wish sometimes to view a few more threads but not be open to people emailing me so I close it out. But when I just want to read and not participate, then I get signed back on when I click any links. Sometimes I have signed out and there is an interesting link on the sign out page. I click on the link and I am signed back in.

I am a little confused here. I thought this was the category where you left errors for the administrators or the moderators. I don't need any help. I am just reporting what I think to be a programming error. I have already tested this out with other sites before I bothered to make a comment about it.

It appears to be a programming error that auto signs me back in when I click on any links. IF this site only allows people that are members and signed in to view it, I would like to know this. Other sites allow free viewing, just don't allow you to participate if you are not a signed in member. I have never okayed the site to autosign me in. If there is somewhere I need to go to disable that function if it is a default state, then I would like that knowledge. Thanks.

Well it does seems you have a problem. It mite be your browser! I downloaded the new Firefox 5.3. and it would not save my setting, and kept opening multipull tabs on me everytime i started it. So i got ride of it and went back to the old version i had. And had no problems. When i looked up on the problem i was having with the new version, i found out it was hacked. And people said don't download it. If it's not your browser, notify CS of the problem and they mite beable to figure it out. Or it could be your comps automatic sign in settings.... That's all i can give you.....Hope you find a solution to your problem.

Yes, you do appear to have a problem. You should be able to open new tabs or new windows without what you are experiencing. I can't help with suggesting how to fix it but you can contact Admin via Help at the top right hand corner and then clicking Contact Us on the left hand side.

And, yes, you are able to view the site without being logged in, it is a public site. You can see most things including the Forums. You just will not be able to see Who's View Me or post to the Forums without being signed in.

Good luck! handshake

This happend to me too and there is nothing wrong with my computer. It can be very annoying when you want to view a profile without the owner of the profile knowing you viewed them.

Unless you actually tell the CS system to sign you out, you will remain signed in for a period of time. I don't know what the inactivity limit is before you are automatically signed out. Even closing the page (tab) will not sign you out. At the top right side of the page is the link to sign yourself out. Even closing the page, you will remain signed in until the inactivity max is reached. I read forums and view profiles without being signed in all the time.

G'morning HFT wave

I don't have this problem.
Have you tried posting something or viewing you your e-mail when you encountered such situation?

If the system does allow you to do so, it's definitely an error. If not, then it appears you are staying logged-on because cookies are being reused (amongst other possibilities).
Refresh your screen (F5) and see if it still appears as if you are logged-on.

I don't think mods read CS Site Suggestions & Feedback too often, try contacting them directly.

It takes a little time for the site to register that you have signed out, so if you do sign out, then click straight back on the front page it will let you back in as signed on.

Close the browser window for the CS page... give it a minute then go back onto the site... I think you will find that works

I do sign out. I am well trained on how the system keeps you as signed in if you don't sign out. I have been a forum goer in many sites for many years. I have never experienced this happening at any of them before.

Hi, Laura. Yes, I am totally sined out and I click on any link on the sign out page and the window opens back into CS without a password. I will give it another day and then try contacting them thru the help link. Thanks for your suggestion. I have to be somewhere in a bit or I would hang around. I just dropped in to check my post.

But I guess you just want to disavow any CS "conspiracy theory" ..???
Thank you for sharing your "expertise"..roll eyes

SoldierByte replies:
Go to previous settings as prescribed..
You have two choices (default is auto-fill)
UNCHECK: Auto-fill box each time I visit the page/site.
The "Auto-fill when I visit this page/site" function
automatically fills your login for a Web page/site when you revisit the Web site

CHECK: MANUAL fill each time I visit the page/site ...
(SoldierByte recommends that you use this option to fill the login information for a Web page/site.)

The above is utilized by i7, Vista, XP-sp2,
Symantics, Norton, and various other third
party security and anti-phishing software..
Hope this helps..

What were the previous settings?

I personally do not remember ever allowing any default or deliberate settings to save any passwords. Those are things I refuse to do no matter how safe many claim it is.

Byte me, Soldier. You know perfectly well what I mean. I do not close the window to sign out, I click on the sign out link. Duh. I thought you had a relationship? You act like you aren't getting laid. SORRY it is not mellowing you out like most people seem to get when in a relationship. Or maybe she is just out of town and you are taking it out on everyone else?

What a load of crap, SB...

First, auto-fill function requires at least a single click to refill these 2 fields,

but OP made it clear that she appears to be signed-in without even getting a sign-in screen upon return.

Secondly, if it were her default settings as you claim, she would have the same problem with other sites, the ones she said do NOT give her this problem.

You must be talking about 'keep me Signed-In {for a period of time}' settings, but it would be application specific and CS does not have this setting.

And lastly, even if you were right,

what kind of instruction is it? --

Quote: UNCHECK: Auto-fill box each time I visit the page/site. ??

For someone who wanted to help, you omitted an awfull lot of info, such as where should she look for these settings to uncheck. roll eyes

Yet you included absolutely useless for OP info -- your website. LOLOLOL doh

cheers

SoldierByte: ..
