It is the same day, only calender is different. Old calender is 13 days behind. SO, 7 January (on the modern calender that we look at today) is really 25 December on Old calender.
When everyone switched to the New Calender system, Russian Orthodox Church, kept the Old Calender dates.
Confusing...but they celebrate Christmas both on 25 December, just old calender is 13 days behind, so that is why it is on 7 January when we look at the modern (new) calender
