What exactly does "mid-life" crisis mean to you?...Do men really go through this...or is it an excuse to have a "last hurrah" before age catches up with them?...
This term generally applies to men...but in your opinion, do women go through mid-life crisis?
"The Doctors say that 'staying young' is something to do with your genes...well I'm telling you: it's what's -in- your jeans that keeps you young!" - Paul Stanley
"Trouble with dreams is, a lot of them do come true. By the time they do, you've turned into somebody else. That's what happens with time... It's always been important to me, that my dream come true, when I wanted. We turned our dream into reality by not even really pursuing either one. We didn't pursue the dream and we certainly didn't pursue reality!" -David Lee Roth
i don't know about all men...but i know that when MY husband hit forty...he changed DRASTICALLY...started partying with younger folk...staying out all night...jumping off naked in a pool full of women...tore his ACL wrestling an 18-year-old and was out of work for five months...

especially those that have worked all their adult lives to build something whole and productive and have invested 25 years in a marriage and all of a sudden turn around and wonder
WHAT THE HELL HAVE I DONE ALL THIS FOR AND WHO AM I.....
because they found their partner cheating or no longer interested or woke up to realize they were never honestly in love or interested in the first place...it happens to people so attached to their belief systems and concepts about religion , family life , work and they seriously and sincerely BELIEVE ALL OF IT and then see what a lie it all was./is.

That was too easy, did you tranquelize first (sorry left dictionary at home)
As to mid life crisis, I hit my wall in the year coming up to 50 and still climbing the damn thing! This next birthday will be hard too, it will be me reaching the age at which my dad died. Throw in the menopause and a whole truckload of stuff I'm not prepared to talk about here and you have my life nutshelled and snapped shut.
As to men, who the heck knows, I don't much worry about them any more.
I already hit it and am still going through it. Does that mean my life is half over. LOL I quit my job and went back to school into something that makes me happy instead of a nine to five job
I was with a girl not terribly long ago and she said "Mr. Roth, I think you’re the oldest person I've ever been with." I said "Honey I was gonna say the same thing to you." - David Lee Roth

Man-o-pause exists and I 've seen it many times to varying degrees. Some men are extreme and protest too much. They do the typical things - seeking younger women, buying hot cars or motorcycles, changing their wardrobes. I think its common and somehow we as a society have become tolerent of it and consumerism benefits the most. Does the same happen for women - I think we're catching up. Women are making choices that are less traditional all around and adopting the "midlife crisis" mentality is one of the big changes. But its not all negative. It can be the real catalyst for change for people (men and women) who have previously made decisions based on their family's needs.
