Jenny,
This email is grossly incorrect. For example Turkey's "extreme Moslem Government is cozying up to Iran" is totally wrong. Turkey has a civil, not religious government and is generally hostile to Iran and especially Iraq.

There are Turkish aid workers in Haiti.

Take care.

Gordon.

When i lived in Turkey generally feeling was they were not friendly with Iraq or Iran.

In fact Turkish soldiers die on a weekly basis on the borders of Iraq thro fighting that is not reported outside of Turkey

I am forever amazed at how little the general American citizen really knows about Mediterranean countries and history......

confused

...Turkey is a Republic...based on the concept of separation of state and religion....even if it recognizes the Islamic nature of it's culture and country as a whole....

...in the same context as our small country is run....Catholic but the church is not the state.....

...I would suggest you look up Mustafa Kemal Atatürk , who was the man who gave birth to the Turkish Republic.....

..also....Turkey has for the past ten years or so.....been chasing after entry as member country within the EU.....a controversial issue so far.....partly due to it being the only Muslim country in an otherwise mostly Catholic member states.....and also due to it's not so perfect human rights record so far.....

cool

my friend of Malta you make a mistakes. first mistake Turkey is a not member of the EU. untill to not resolve the problems with Cyprus, with the orthodoxs in Costandinopoli (Instabul)ecc and the second mistake the army is more powerfull than the politics so the means of republic is not exist.
