I'm writing an essay to prove the following thesis: "Bridget Jones - typical or non-typical representative of the generation of 30s."
I'm curious about your opinion not only about Bridget as literary character, but most importantly your views on generation of 30-year-old singletons. Consider these points:
1. dating experiences 2. the needs of a 30-something-year-old woman (eg. intimacy, security, emotional needs, etc.) 3. self-acceptance 4. self-evaluation 5. relationships with men 6. view on life (what a woman wants from life) 7. emotional (un)stability 8. typical problems in terms of everyday life and relationships 9. New Year's resolutions and the (in)ability to keep them
I never read the book.. nor saw the movie (they did make it a movie i hope) but your research for your essay looks interesting. I'd like to see what you end up with. Good luck on it.
i watched brigdet jones, read the book too.. i can say most of what was said and shown there was true, in my experience.but her being insecure of herself is not completely true, because i think when a woman ages her confidence level becomes higher and she learn to recognise what she really wants in her life and go for it.she thinks now, she has nothing to lose going for what she thinks would give her joy in life. It appears that we enjoy being single..which is really fun but of course biological clock is ticking, if we will have a relationship it should be for keeps and not just for games. i dont know if you get what i mean.hope i can help. goodluck to you

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for a very useful opinion on Bridget Jones on CS forum. I put this message there ‘cos I wanted to get an opinion from people, which I could include in my essay regarding this literary character. I wanted to send you an email and thank you this way but I was blocked.... Would be nice if you contacted me...Thanks again... Cheers. Marta from Poland.

Perhaps it would have been more polite to have mentioned this in your original post.We come here to interact not as an unconscious source for academic research!

With all due respect I think you will find she did explain it was for an essay.
