GingerBe: I got over most of it years ago. I ony talk about it these days in reference to something else. All emotional attachment is long gone. I rely these days on what I experience for myself.
Sorry you had to be without your mum so young. I know people are well-meaning but you would have had lots of different kinds of input into your life with a variety of different people as care-givers, and that can be a mixed bag in more ways than one.
Its odd but thats exactly where I think Im luckier than most - yes, I had constraints as a youngster, most of which were self imposed but i also knew a freedom which many never get to experience - I was lucky to go my own way and retain my integriry for so long
trish123: as I believe Ive said before Ginger - I grew up in the library
No better place. I didn't discover one of those that I could use secretly,(my mother burned all library books, because she said they carried diseases), until I was 13. That was my first taste of freedom.
EliteOne: I believe in god because I’m afraid in what he will do if I don’t !
You struck the nail right on the head in regards to why quite a few people do believe in God. Somehow the luster turns to a dull finish rapidly--is it really a wonderful thing to be fearful of what is supposed to be loving and loved by? You know, I fully realize that the Bible talks of not being wishy-washy, arbitrary, but I do believe that I don't have to be afraid of what is supposed to be a very good, spiritually kind and caring entity. It doesn't make sense to have a sense of love and security with a sense of fear of the very thing we are supposed to be nurtured by! THIS is why, among other reasons, many people don't want to have anything to do with it. The "ideals" are in direct opposition to---themselves! No wonder there is doubt and frustration!

All religions were created as a form of social control in my opinion.

God is also know as mother nature kind of scary don’t you think?
"I'm a-goin' on Safari--I not-a sceered!" (remember that from Boy Scout days--Holiday Camp, or the like?)---the group would sit around the campfire and each person would take a turn 'singing' a verse and/or a made up verse. The first person who couldn't "add" was "out" and so on until the last camper. Goofy, but fun... oops-didn't mean to
DynamiteLuv: How come Atheists do not believe in God?
I guess its boils down to the free will. Why do we have to? are we forced to believe? or are we blind? who is blinding us? so you got to think about it, if you are not with God? who side you are on? So I dont think its all down to people in general, that they dont believe in God, I would concentrate on asking Do you believe in the Devil? Think about it.

Thought about it, took me two seconds, if I don't believe in God it means I do not believe in the Devil. Obvious isn't it??

I agree but just pointing out that if I dont believe in God it goes without saying I dont believe in the devil. Anyway, get the beers in.

sindhiboy1: Non blievers are the followers of Evil Please take a Look on God's books ,The noble Quran and Bible
You think I have not read the bible, what makes you jump to that conclusion???? I neither lead a christian life or any religious life, but like to think that an open minded person would not jump to the conclusion I lead an evil life and do not pursue this course. As the previous poster pointed out we have to accept each others beliefs or disbeliefs but neither should be pointing the finger of following a life of evil

That is because you believe in religion, do you not understand that I do not and if your belief makes you feel good then I do not begrudge this. As a none believer I think that there are many ways in this kife, not just god or devil as I do not believe they exist, what can you not understand about this. I believe there is a path in life to avoid hurting any other individual. Me as an atheist with a belief in the here and now and showing love as a mortal that I am a bad person in the view of YOUR god. Did YOUR God not give me free will to decide the way I have run my life. I have seen the actions performed by MAN in God's name to know which path I prefer. I will stick with my atheism thank you.

Then how can you disbelieve in something you not seen? Most people say, seeing is believing, and yet, if they did see. how come they say, no way, thats unbelievable? So its up to the indeividual where people want to believe in God, or the Devil. Since you dont believe in neither, Elsson, I guess you dont believe in your existance? your life, if an electrical appliance need power or a battery to work it, what the very power in us humans thats keepin us alive? The soul has to come from somewere, not from apes? and monkies, many people believe that were are born from apes and monkies, and yet they say that aninals dont have a soul. So were did our soul come from? and lastly, you cant see wind, and yet you can see the effects of it, and yet people believe in wind,
Conrad73: Ali,your mouth is getting the better of your Brain again! There is nothing "NOBLE" about Books of that kind written by men!
there are many religions, faiths and books that has written by man. The bible was written, through inspiration, what the followers seen and witnessed from there own eyes. so what the bible tells are from people who were there. most religions today, are written by men, adding quotes and taking quotes from teh bible to suit there religion. Jw's? man made, Mormons? man made. and many more, Bible was man written, from spirituality, witnessed by true events, and inspiration.

Where did our soul come from?? I think I have been implicit in saying I do not believe in a soul. I can feel the wind as for denouncing Darwinism well I leave this debate with you as that is something that I do not do is discuss with fundamentalists to be honest but wish you a good evening and good life nonetheless.
