The last time I went which was a few years ago, they stressed not going around by yourself. Driving to my hotel you passed thru lots of poverty and people just hanging around. The hotel was all inclusive and you could book tours and activities thru the hotel which was great because I was travelling alone.

I've visited Montego Bay Jamaica a number of years ago,
I would highly recommend an all inclusive, the streets at night can be dangerous. Don't mess around after dark there...
But I loved my visit there, HOT< Nice Beaches.
All yea expect to be approached and offered Ganga, At least I was approached...

Yes, be very careful about drugs. When I was leaving Jamaica they first had our suitcases outside the plane and this official was urging his dog to inspect them.

Well I hope it is not that dangerous over there as you are saying..am more of a voyager than just a tourist in all inclusive hotels..

If you're going on a tour that is not link to a hotel or tour campany be careful. Tours are 100% safe with these companies..If not, find a Jamaican who u know. It is safe on the north coast where u should be touring. You'll be irie man!!! its not that bad.

i was there in march and going back the 15th of this month, negril is fun, but, bewhere of the husslers, befor you get in a taxy cab, agree on the price, they will try to charge you more than for a jamaican !!! every time, stay out of the slums, montego is ok ochi is nice, all depends on how long you are there, i go for 3 weeks at a time, if you go to negril, stop in at travlers lodge, tell them melvin said hiHas anyone been there before? Any advice?

i will be the this coming winter, for ( 3 ) months, may get an extension lol for a month
