Why can't society handle or accept women who are bald? Since my hair fell out during chemo treatments - I have a new found appreciation for being bald - you men kept this secret away from us! It's great not having to spend loads of money on hair products or time fixing our do! Never have a bad hair day! Oh and the money I've saved ($50-$70 a month) on haircolor, hair cuts! - I've been setting that money aside for vacation -- WOW! Now if only society would accept bald women as easily as they do bald men! But I guess it's just another in a long line of physical shortcomings that society rejects in women....
Charli15695: I agree totally -- however, it does seem that hair(or lack thereof) is one of the features that people will reject others for. After all, there are tons of tv ads for hair products for the follically challenged...
Ah Gads!! It crazy...all the "Im Worth it" ads on a serious note though...I dont know what I would do if I lost my hair...seems supervicial given that you have survived cancer and lived to tell the tale. I like the feeling of it on my naked back...weird ....yep
If a person wanted to reject you...they were not the person for you in the first place I know when I am feelig blue about how I look at the moment...on lots os steroids I made a mistake of saying that I look like a little fat dwarf..."Him Indoors" replied "Yep, but your my wee fat dwarf"
I was then expecting him to contradict me Now its an endearnment

markizamkd25: My mum after chemo had nice curly hair so no worries you will have too..
Thanks! I'm not worried about it coming back - I'm just amazed at how people react to the follically challenged - male or female - ok, mostly female...I just think it's sad that we put so much emphasis on such trivial physical traits as hair. But we're just humans.

I don´t know, but there are a few great female, bald role models.
Have to say that you look awesome in the beret you´re wearing in your profile though.
Charli15695: Thanks! I chose not to wear a wig - kinda like a guy wearing a toupe ... yuk for me. I invested in some great hats that I can wear forever
Well stick with the beret, it´s a great look. I love them.

My sister finished her chemo around the same time you did. She wore a bandanna on her head, and looked as good as ever.

Good for you!!! I hope all is well now. I think we all have things to deal with that, if others canna aunderstand then it is their loss, JMHO.

Thanks hun -- I'll be at the get together if my dr releases me to fly again --- I've had a couple radiation side effects that have been giving me a problem -- hope, just hope it'll all be cleared up before the meetup!
I'm wearing all kinds of hats and berets and bandanas too! Wigs were yuk to me -- so didn't even bother to get one.

I've always found women who have shaved their heads to be incredibly hot. I understand that your circumstance is different, your baldness isn't elective. Still, it's a look to which I am greatly attracted and it has nothing to do with my own lack of hair; it's simply hot!! Unfortunately (from my perspective) your hair will re-grow. It's a shame, really. Enjoy your baldness while it lasts.
Hi there. Know exactly what you mean. My daughter lost all her hair a couple years ago when she was 16. Fortunately she was not sick (hope you are feeling better by the way ) Unfortunately for her, the baldness is likely permanent. We're all used to it now and she does not like wearing wigs either. There is a picture of her on my profile. I think a lot of it comes down to the confidence you carry yourself with. Little kids especially stare at her so much they will almost flip backwards out of their little seats so their eyes can follow her. Funny even at that very young age, they recognize it as something different. When she gives them a big smile and a wink though, it takes them a lot less time to get over the fact that there's something different about her than it does with the adults.

Oh, I hope you're comfortable enough to enjoy a good head rub.
Hair insulates alot of really nice little nerve endings.
It would be a shame to miss such an stimulating opportunity.
