Wouldn't it all depend on whether or not you knew the origin of the two pieces. If you knew they came from one whole crumb, then you'd have two halves.
If you were unaware, then you'd have two crumbs.

But wouldn't it matter, from hence it came?

Would "size matter" as to the original crumb, that if it were cut in half...then therefore, its smaller size, would be qualifying more so to being classified as a crumb, hence 2 crumbs independent of the other.
