EXACTLY THE SAME AS YOURS TARNS (sorry, I'm shouting). Getting his tiwh unsolicited IM messages is a complete inconvenience and gives you no chance to check out the contact's profile unless you do the mean thing and reject the attempt.
It is definitely better to have the person message you first to ask if they'd like a chat. I've made this stipulation in my profile and still get IM request attempts, showing that the 'contact' hasn't read my profile, a bit of a blessing in disguise I think, as you never know who is contacting you til youcan read their profile first.

That's alright, cause straight away I got another im and there was an email as well giving me his yahoo address
so i thought, ok , lets hear your sob story
and not long into conversation, had his name and normal rubbish
so I said i was very poor
and he asked about nz and if he got to know me better, would like to come to my country
So I told if I wasnt going to be here long as I was getting deported
Now see why ya dont leave ya im on
Toffeapple: Yes I have checked that and I guess I can IM them back if I am interested, but when the original request comes through there is no advice who it is trying to contact you. Is there? As for your IM stalker.....hmmm surely there are ways to get back at him!
IM would be so much better if we had better control of knowing who is im at the pop when screen pops up.
And when you say no, the pop up box should go
Lets hope CS can make the IM a better tool to use
ps. IM person even thou is blocked, tryed again tonight to im me, maybe i should just answer him and give him a piece of my mind once and for all
