I cant help myself... I find issue with individuals who complain about generalizing, and then generalize to prove their point..

If your asked a general question you have to give a generalised answer.
Its all in the way one uses the english language.
If your asked a more specific question with more specific parameters you will get a more specific answer.
People are individuals and can't be judged on the overall perception of their country/politics/religion etc. This is precisely the attitude that Muslims the world over have to contend with.

Those walls are only defensive and may be in place for only a few seconds. But they will be erected; And they are erected through life experience, Information absorbed from Media and friends, From how they are dressed, And maybe even their looks.
This is all caused from preconceptions. Preconceptions are due to ignorance. Ignorance is caused due to lack of knowledge. This all comes under the umbrella of Racialism.quote]

My work brings me into contact with people from all over the world, both visitors to this country and those that have become citizens and regard themselves (rightly) as Australians.
I couldn't care less about their colour, race or religion and quite frankly, take offence to your assumption that "everyone" forms their views through press-related articles and peer pressure.
The thing I enjoy most about travelling is meeting people who have vastly different backgrounds to mine and have always found that those people welcome us to their countries and treat us with respect; they are not only willing, but delighted to share their experiences and knowledge of their culture and are intensely interested in ours.
So please leave me out when you express your cliched views .. you are prejudging me as well.

DD please dont take my post as anything other than me attempting to clarify my position. Certainly was never meant to cause you angst, or any other such thing.
No offence was taken by myself at your post, just that I felt the need to expain where I'd been coming from, which has been solely in respect to the original comments made by the OP.
