serene56: The OP's thread is being discussed/attacked here as generalising .. I stand firm on my remark that comments such as yours are doing exactly the same thing.

You're suggesting that of the refugees who attempt to come into this country illegally, most have killed in the name of religion?

Where did you find this information?

I'm not "siding" with anyone on this issue, but I do find comments such as yours sensationalist and inflammatory and wonder what you are attempting to achieve by them

Hmm which are the people coming here and why is US and Australia doing in Afghanistan? Fgans are not poor but they sure are violent! wine

In response to: hey ppl..all i want ask is that because of some , why do you generalize tht all ppl frm india are mean just like all five fingers are not equal like tht every person is different .even i dnt appreciate those who do wierd stuff but tht dsnt mean we all are like tht

One thing I do know is (and that is from the dating sites I have made some dear friends and a couple are from India and they live in Aus)that they think just like the Aussie males although they have only been here about 10yrs there is no difference they are good fun guys.We have our Klu Klux Clan type as the rest of the world have thiers.

What I am saying ankur I hate what some twisted types do and it does not mean we are all like that.Yet we are being judged as a nation by the Indian goverment and that is so unfair I cannot believe that they cant see that..... dont they understand about human nature? that there are lowlife thugs in every race of people or.... are they just playing politics.

Oh come on, elite .. Afghanistan is populated by tens of thousands of extremely poor people who live at subsistence level in a wartorn country, moderate Muslims who carry on their day-to-day lives living in poverty and scratching to provide for their families.

Surely you don't visualise them, man woman and child, spending their days toting AK-47s and plotting the invasion of the Western world conversing

And as far as what the US and Aus are doing there .. you tell me dunno Some would regard it as a peace-keeping alliance and an attempt to assist in eventually installing a democratic government and society.

Others would consider it an invasion, with ulterior motives involving the control and acquisition of Middle-East oil reserves and the ultimate conversion of the population to the US way of thinking ..

hmmm

A couple of observations from an outsider to Aus...

First, wrt Aussies; generous, kind and really have a good attitude. Love the Aussies in general and want to thank them for giving me some time in country! However, not everyone I have met has been so friendly.

Second, I have met some folks here who are of visible minority status - great folks mostly. But until they figured out I was not Aussie, some were cold towards me. Rude even. This includes some Indian folks too. (BTW, I have also met some great Indian people).

Finally, I have learned that discrimination is a knife that cuts both ways. Not only can you be the victim of it, you can also cut others with it. And it is a damned sharp knife.

I guess what I am trying to say in my old man, rambling kind of way, is that folks are a mirror of you and your attitude. Not everyone will be your new buddy - but if one starts with a good attitude, you will normally get a good attitude reflected back.

And those that won't spare you the time or the courtesy - well, they lost out on meeting you and enriching to their world.

Look at my profile I love the Canadians they are so laid back even more than us and that is saying something. I for one have not seen you on this site before!and we all say hi to anyone new.
I cannot believe you were shunned ah..... except they might have thought you were an American..some do not know the difference lol, you get one or two that are not keen on them no idea why,not seen that on this forum though.

I have chatted to a couple of Canadian farmers its great to talk to them about the Wolves Bears and Freezing temps they have to somehow get through and boy are they tough.
If you get ignored again cough at them in french a bit! now I feel all protective about you now lol.

Come on Serine I could use the same argument for people facing poverty in Australia. We have families living out of cars and in tents because simply housing cannot be supplied. Our pensioners simply cannot afford heating or cooling or for that matter, “food .” I could go on and on but I’m sure you are getting the gist of things. Then we have poor class middle class and the extremely rich, no different to any other country in the world. Kind of Ironic don’t you think? These refugees you feel so companionate about are spending up to 70.000 US dollars per head, hardly qualifies them for poor? There are many things to consider as well. When you are bringing a new nation into the country, you are also bringing in their enemies and no doubt new ones will form as well. We all have to take in certain amount of immigrants and we also have a choice as well as an obligation to ensure there is a balance. dunno
