Click on the image. Notice how the fingers of Christs right hand embracing the folds of Mary's dress. Looking closely at the detail work on this statue it seems impossible that any human could create such a thing...and in 1 huge piece of marble.

I have been lucky enough to go to the Palace of Fine Arts in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and they have dozens of his pieces, plus a duplicate of The Thinker that he produced. It is such a beautiful place and his worked are the center piece. It has drawn me there several times even though it is across the country from me.
not sure, but I don't think Rodin designed iy, he just sculpted the piece, believe someone else did the design, asked a friend of mine to find out for sure. when I know, you'll know
went to wikipedia....Rodin designed and sculpted first a plaster model, then cast the final statue in bronze, some interesting facts at Wiki if anyone is interested.......
