Jeremy Brett was awesome. There will never be another. I keep hoping someone will take up the role and give us some more good entertainment but so far nothing.

inwestend: I'm a bit of a Sherlock Holmes affection-ado, and my favourite portrayal of the character was by the late Jeremy Brett.
The recent film with Robert Downy Junior was fun and entertaining - but it this new physical Sherlock action hero for didn't resemble the character I know and love.
Anyway - there's an online petition to award Jeremy Brett posthumously for a BAFTA award. I think he deserved more recognition, and I've signed it. For anyone else who admired his portrayal, the petition is here:-

I would have thought he had been awarded every honour there could be. He was, to me, the quintessential Holmes, with Sir Basil a close second who, at times seemed a bit too 'hyper', a trait found in other characters he played. I would have liked to see Brett in other roles...his delivery reminded me of Richard Burton..
