A gal pal of mine who lives in the city just called to tell me the following: Both her house and car were broken into, and to cut to the chase, both the police and the insurance company attorney gave her quite a raking over the coals, questioning her endlessly whether she knew the person(s), did she lock the premises and the car, if so, was it secure enough, etc... in general treating her like she was totally at fault. Since when is it the victim's responsibility that someone else chooses to break the law? This kind of thing seems to happen. Once I had a credit card stolen and the company gave me quite a difficult time about it, as well. WTF?
I think they do this to weed out the bogus claims .. give the person a hard time and make them prove they were not involved with the break-ins. I hope your friend recovers well from this ordeal .. otherwise the culprit will win
All insurance companies are more than ready to take your monthly payments, and when it's comes to make a claim, all doors are closed, often with a pile of jargon paperwork!!

The rights of the victim these days are non-existent.
The police are there to listen to complaints from the public and to follow up on them. They are not there to interrogate the alleged victim, but it seems they often spend much time and effort on this.
I believe it is largely down to the "Sue 'Em Society" we live in now. People sue for the slightest thing, and no police department wants a claim for wrongful arrest made. They tip toe around now, terrified to upset anyone..
Its wrong. People get away with pretty much anything if they know the right people. If your not in with the "In Crowd" alot of the time, you dont stand a chance for justice.
If you look at the leaders, and teachers, around the world the law enforcement personel have learned well concerning the real criminals, who blame someone else.
