demonfairy: When i was young i spent the night with a friend. Her mother fixed us brains&eggs scrambled...I liked it,but she didn't tell me that i was eating pig brains and eggs till after wards.... What is the strangest food you have eaten?
If you asked my daughter, she would probably say I grossed her out the most by eating a live, raw crab, with the shell and all. I eat raw fish, and sea urchins. Those are all delicacies in Hawaii.
I also eat ants. "The red ones taste precisely like lemon." Mary Poppins.
The grossest thing I think I ever ate, was chitterlings; pig's intestines.

chitterlings have to be washed with salt and vinegar then boiled with anions and black paper ... finally barbecue ... and nothing can compare to that delicacy

Well i havent eaten this but i did see it on the Food channel.
Casu marzu, which is cheese with maggots, they eat it in Sardinia, im not sure im brave enough to try this one...
Most people on here would probably pass on Filipino delicacies such as Balut (Chicken egg, but with a partially formed embryo inside). I tried it - it wasn't too bad. I think some of the best Durian comes from the Philippines too.
Not sure what's the strangest thing I've eaten is. I've become a bit blasé about eating insects, grubs, ant eggs, snake, sea cucumber, or whatever else I find in Asia. But some people on here probably even consider sushami (raw tuna) a strange food.
It was in New Zealand that I ate "braun". Which contains brains, and all the other bits from the head of the animal we don't normally eat.
ladyfingers: not brains, that's for sure. i thought squid was pretty awful, like chewing on a rubber eraser.
Squid is hardly exotic or strange, but it has to be cooked right. First time I tried it was from an English chip shop, and I thought you could probably make car tires out of it. But when tried it next in former Yugoslavia, cooked in a Mediterranean way - it was wonderful.
What I've always wanted to try is the Korean octopus that is sliced and eaten while alive.
Every kind of offal from sheep, fowl, cattle, etc. Ostrich, frogs legs, all kind of sea food, Masai cow blood and milk etc., mix, fried ants, goat's intestines (not cleaned), partiidge, pheasant, grouse, kangaroo, deer, dog, toasted rats and probably a lot more I can't remember.
