oh oh oh!!! me me me!! i got something exciting to share. Just happened today. First time i tasted it too. For dinner i had meat cooked in soy sauce, vinegar, onions, garlic, black pepper and what else i dont know. But what i know is, it was not just any meat, it was a wild boar's. Twas tender, almost no fat at all and very tasty. just thought it was exciting seeing as it is rare in this age of processed meat.

dunno

i have roasted chicken intestines for snacks every other day too. wink

She said it was stuffed with sweet breads....I kept eating....and then some idiot informed me what sweet breads were! I could eat no moredoh

Pass the trifle!

My dad used to cook pigs feet when i was small. Apparently i loved them. Not a chance these days.
Goat curry in Jamaica was ok if a little fatty with gristle. I absolutely love whitebait in my local Italian restaurant, tiny little fish deep fried whole with salad and tartare sauce.

demonfairy: I guess it depends on a persons culture,i might think its strange, someone else might not.Good point...

Thinking about it... guess we were better off than eating today's junk! Frozen cakes and patties made out of God knows what! If you're lucky maybe you will get 10% fish in FISH fingers/cakes, maybe 50% lean meat in BEEF burgers etc....: all the rest is junk and fillers! doh

Pigs' feet was a norm in our house. Cooked in what we call "Kawlata"... a concoction of chunky cut vegetables, pork etc..

*Kawlata (Pork and cabbage soup)
Thick and chunky, almost a stew, of cabbage, potato and pork knuckle with Maltese sausage (see below) and sometimes also bacon. Traditionally served as two courses with the meats removed and served as second course but may be served as a comforting one pot cold weather meal**

For those who feel they haven't been getting enough thymus gland or pancreas in their diets, have we got a culinary delicacy for you! Sweetbreads are the thymus glands and/or pancreas of calves, lambs and piglets under one year old. These glands are classified as offal in culinary circles, along with other parts such as gizzards and intestines. Unlike other members of the offal family, however, sweetbreads are considered a delicacy among those familiar with haute cuisine. Sweetbreads can be prepared in a number of ways, from sauteeing to deep frying, although the steps between the butcher shop and the table can be tricky and time-consuming.
