scriobhneoir: Actually from my experience, it's more likely to happen from the man's perspective. Maybe I'm wrong?

I don't think it is really any different on either side. I've seen great looking girls with less attractive men but I have seen fairly hunky lads with girls who were not exactly stunners.

Men and women are not 2 different species, they are all people. Some like different things to others. And when you are single, I think the mind can play tricks on you. Sometimes you can notice more of a certain kind of person at certain times.

I just think we see it from a single person's perspective. We notice the type of person we are attracted to more. Or else we just see people who we build up as competition, instead of seeing them through impartial eyes.So we build them up as being better than they are.

It can happen, often when you see pictures of people after you met them you realise they actually were not as hot or ugly as you thought.

scriobhneoir: Lads, I'm sure we've all been there, you're no great shakes, your unattractive, plain, short, overweight etc. You meet this lovely woman who you're mad about and who is also absolutely stunning. Is this kind of romance feasible, or will good looking women generally go for those who are as attractive physically as them?

If you are rich you will find a princess

That's what she (or he) said!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but everyone can identify mainstream beauty I think.

Ooh matron laugh

Oh yeah the very best looking can be easily picked out but the level below is open to interpretation. Then there is personal preferences. Like I am not in any way attracted to Naomi Campbell or tall girls in general. Same way one girl will go weak at the knees for a rugby player and another will think he is a shaved ape.

I've never, in my life looked at someone, off the bat and gone wow.
I have however, after observing a person in conversation, done just that.
It's all about chemistry for me, always has been.

i find this a very shallow post, it seems the op is obsessed with the physical side of attraction, personally im nothing to look at but it's never stopped me form getting women, the areas i lack in i make it up in other ways, but if you have a bad attitude and add that to low self esteem then you cant blame any woman from looking the other way

And it's the opposite for me. I have, on many occasions, lusted after someone based on initial impression. Then, after prolonged observation and attempted conversation, found that it's not worth the time...

Wemon say its personality that counts but in reality a good looking woman will go for the 6 foot Brad Pitt lookalike every time instead of the short average looking guy.
