DodgeBabe: Its a long way to travel, V thats for sure for you!
Take your time. Try and get a stop in London Heathrow overnight to collect your thoughts; get to another London airport where the budget airlines go from (Luton, Stanstead) the next day and leave the majority of your luggage at the hotel or luggage holders.
If you can take a nice, leisurely flight up to Newcastle for a few days you will be nicely refreshed, and know your luggage is safe.
Then, get a return back and go on from there.
Wish I could help more from here, but its difficult by emails!
Good morning to you and Summer.
Found flights to Edinburgh. Nowhere else of the other cities mentioned.
But I have no idea how close that is to Summer's. Bodleing would know.
I need the flight for the 14th though. My very first post was incorrect. It would be good if I could change the dates to 17th, and shorten my stay. I've contacted the online travel site about it, so hopefully I will hear soon.

Well, good luck.
I know how difficult it is to book flights from thousands of miles away, and not know the areas.

You will sort it, no doubt.
Have a great time.
Thanks for all your help. A great site you provided. So far, if it comes to pass, the winds are blowing Summer and me to Scotland. Hadn't planned on that.
Hope all is well with you in NY. Enjoy the rest of your day.

patmac: Tees is the local airport for Middlesborough BMI fly from LONDON...
I just woke up a short time ago, with all this information swimming around my sleep deprived mind. One thing I couldn't help thinking is that 2 days after my scheduled departure from London, I'm due to fly back to Aussie Land. It's beginning to sound all a bit too hectic.
Thanks for explaining about Tees, though, patmac. Another thing I've learned.

Honey i missed a flight back to England a couple of weeks ago. Not my fault and was in New York alone for an extra day, made the most of it and took a taxi to Central park, walked around Macey's and loved it. You'll be fine

Thanks englishelegance. That would have been nice, to be an extra day in the Big Apple, one of my favourite big cities. None of that would faze me. But spare the thought of me missing a flight back to Italy. It would screw me around for my return back to Oz.

I know someone from this site to whom this very thing happened. He was stranded in England due to the volcanic ash fiasco. He met an Irish lassie because of that, who is now the love of his life.
It was very much a positive for him to MISS those original flights, so the universe does work in strange ways.
