Do you cook meals for yourself even though you live alone.

I mean proper home made meals, not heated up in microwave.

I love cooking and although I live alone I still cook all my meals from fresh ingredients. I preserve foods and make my own sauces, jams, pickles and chutneys.

I usually end up giving most of them away as I can't eat all I make.

If my microwave breaks, I'm dead!
I'll usually give in and cook something good once a week.
I still have preserves and relishes that I made 3 years ago!!!
Now, cookies, muffins and brownies are another story...sometimes I'll make those at 10:00PM just because I have the urge.

PS: I WISH I could find a guy who cooks. My husband sure didn't.
I've never had that luxury. Maybe that's why I don't cook now, ya think?

Oh yeah, love cooking. It's just a nightmare cooking for single portions, so I usually end up cooking about 3 times a week and have the same food on alternative nights!!

Well done you, nice to hear. Sometimes when talking to people I feel like the odd one out. A lot of people living alone say it's not worth cooking for one.

No I'm not much of a cook though I love homemade food. I'll often eat in smaller restaurants that specialize in this type of food, restaurants whose clientele are mostly workers stopping by for breakfast, for break or for lunch.

Yes, I do that sometimes I also change the flavour, starting with something mild then gradually adding spices or herbs.

Bit like starting the week with consommé and ending with Brown Winsor Soup.

After years of cooking for my family, I sort of grew to dislike cooking, but in order to eat healthy, I do cook for myself. I wish someone else would cook for me but I am so picky food wise, its just easier to cook for myself....

Oh don't mention soup!!!!
I could feed the starving nations with my soup.

I've always had to make in quantity.
Indian restaurant kitchens from 14, baker for 20 years, and even managed and cooked in a restaurant!!

I like eating out and I too choose restaurants that do home made food. These Restaurants tend to be expensive so I can't do it often.

The pleasure for me is doing the cooking, I loose myself in peeling, chopping and mixing the flavours. Trying to come up with something new.

No Baking though. I am not good at following recipes all that weighing and timing no no.

I rarely eat much of what I cook. But with 5 extra people living in my house right now, I do a lot of cooking. Yesterday I made 20 quarts of soup and this weekend I'll make 20 quarts of chili. I make homemade bread 6 loaves at a time. When I make mashed potatoes, I make 10 pounds for one meal.
