"Religion is an insult to human dignity. Without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."
The day that Science and Spirituality combine to give us a much broader view of the different realities that exist within all creation is the day we shall truly be free and the odds of that happening are next to zero. I think that Steven Hawkins is bitter and mad at what he perceives to be "God" responsible for his everyday condition. He needs a little Love in his life.
Religion is the human races attempt to place itself at the center of the universe and all creation, to elevate itself above all other life by perpetuating a myth in a divine right to exist. Did God really create us? Or did we create God to justify our egotistical belief that our species is the be all and end all of the evolution of the universe.

vonney: I never post on religious threads as people who believe insult those who dont and people who dont insult those who do but I had to respond to that comment.
Er... I read her post as supporting yours.
I.e '...people who believe (in God) insult those who don't (believe) and those who don't (believe) insult those who do (believe)...'
People often say, "We want to know God, where is God?" Now, the question is just absurd. WHERE IS HE NOT? You ask WHERE He is; you must be dead blind. Can't you see? Only He is! In the tree and in the bird, in the animal, in the river, in the mountain, in man, in woman... everywhere He is. He has taken so many forms to surround you, to dance around you. From everywhere He is saying "Hello!" Religion is a human thinking in fear... that's all it is. God... is trusting life and living it, drinking every last drop that you have been given. That's how I see and feel it.
katt1017: If you honestly believe that I'd urge you to go back and read some of the threads and comments by non-believers on this site. If you do so you might have a more realistic perspective than you do now.

Well said!
Yes there is suffering in the world, but that is not the God's fault.
Humankind has evolved to live in a better way than we choose to live.
There are diseases in poor countries, but there are cures in developed countries. It is up to us to get those inexpensive vaccinations to those countries to cure those diseases.
There are droughts with consequent suffering in poor countries, but we have the ability to if not irrigate those areas, at least help the suffering by charity.
In other words God has left it to us to use our expertise, knowledge, brains, charity, skills etc., to help others, and not to sit on our backsides and say, "I'm allright Jack - that suffering is thousands of miles away and doesn't concern me."
vonney: Please read my post again.I stated that BOTH sides insult each other.
I am very sorry I misunderstood you. I should learn not to try to read after my eyes start twitching. Comprehension takes a severe nose dive about then.

Or is that what you consider good natured polite conversation?
Oddly enough, you sure did not demonstrate a good natured polite conversation with me. All you did was try and personally attack me and break me down because of my views and how I questioned your approach and reasoning in debunking quantum consciousness.

(hangs head in shame)
Actually, you just need to stop looking for any reason to go after somebody with all your assumptions about people and just calm down. Clear example of how you isolate one part of a post (while ignoring other parts of a post and the big picture) then try and tell everybody how it is---then your girlfriend, KattsRose, usually comes in to rescue you or join the fight. Anybody that has a different theological view then you and your woman, then basically we are all wrong.
