Desertguy49: I wasn't referring to attractiveness or intelligence so much as attitude, I have encountered these snobbish, nose up in the air rich women who look down on a regular working class guy and they think that you are beneath their station. Maybe I'm not a very wealthy man, but I have always prided myself for standing on my own two feet ever since I was a kid, and I don't need a partner who thinks I'm some kind of charity case.
Yes. Well I think that is a lot more commendable than someone who is born with a silver spoon in his mouth and who doesn't value or appreciate what he has OR try to leave his own footprint in the world!
pamela_1976: I've been wondering why is it that handsome and smart men are intimidated by beautiful, successful, independent women? Isn't that what we all seek? Someone who is not needy? Can you tell me?
I am sorry, did you say something ? I was busy admiring your picture !
leostartingover: Hmmmm. I'm not sure it has anything to do with looks, although there is some talk about exquisitely gorgeous men (and women) preferring to choose someone not as attractive so they don't have to compete! I guess Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie and countless other couples prove THAT one wrong.
Personally, I think it is more to do with one's self esteem. If you are comfortable with who you are and like yourself, you are less likely to choose a needy partner to "complete" you and you won't be intimidated by your partner being more attractive, more intelligent, or more successful than you are.
it not intimidation by a partner. it is intimidation by a woman. a man being richer would feel good to know he can take care of his woman but but the other way around is what the man is afraid of. he desires to be taken care of but not in ways that shows him inferior. but then there are men who seeks women to take care of them financially

Is not this what we all seek;each of us has different tastes.
Why do you think this ?Is not a rule .I know that handsome men are not at all impressed by beautiful, successful, independent woman.
You know, is not so important to be handsome, beautiful, successful;important is to be yourself, all that matters is beauty of your soul

This is due in part to the fact that men do not want an equal. They prefer someone who looks up to them.

It depends on the guy. They want a woman who they can show off but not one who makes them feel small. That is whether the woman makes good money or not.

Irrespective of gender, nobody likes to be made to feel small, in any situation.
Why wouldn't a guy want to show off the woman they're with, or a woman do the same with their man? That has nothing to do with money, success, or independence.
Just because a woman is beautiful, successful, and independent, it doesn't mean she's high maintenance or high class. You can still be a down to earth girl.
