Hm, this is actually very interesting. Posting this thread on an international forum is a great risk (especially with the headline you chose), because I don't think it's about women per se as your headline suggests, it's more about cultural differences.
I have been living in Italy for a while now, and I'm still struggling to understand Italian men, let alone date them - it can be a somewhat exhausting endeavour.
In my opinion there might be a grain of truth in what you're suggesting, but it doesn't apply to all women in the world, it more applies to all Italians (women and men): they want to be pursued and persuaded.
Since my research still very much a work in progress, I might be totally wrong about this. Maybe you can tell me: does the same translation apply to Italian men too?

i find it a very cute observation and this is also my personal experience.
I have been living in Italy for 22 years now...
and i have always found somewhat funny and exhausting in the same time that it is sooooo hard to hear a clear "yes" or "no"...instead i have always heard "vediamo" (let's see) which is just a delatory expression to win time without taking any clear position...
it is not so much disturbing while dating...lol...but when to say "let's see" is a technician that is supposed to fix your washing machine and you ask him when he will arrive...lol
