Thanks a lot for the encouragement Chriss. handshake

I agree with what you said about not starving myself. Most big people are aware of all that sort of thing but they sometimes chose to ignore it out of desperation. :) The only real way to lose weight and keep it off is to eat sensibly and not starve yourself and to exercise. That's what I'm doing. It is slow but IF I keep it up, it'll work. I know it will because it has before. :)

Ok but you do tend to jump to conclusions. I could have been laughing at anything.

I don't have a clue how much I've lost because I'm scared to weigh myself. I know I will be losing it and sometime in the future I'll get to weighing myself again.

Keep going geoff your doing well. My idea of eating sensibly is having a glass of milk with my chips, or the bacon in the BLT is cancelled out by the L,T. lol.

hope youve had a good day, wave

geoff one word of advice, always use the same scales for example, like everytime you go shopping weigh yourself on the same scales as they vary so much. like boots have them and asda.

why are you scared to weight yourself, but if you do weigh yourself and you see your loosing and loosing you will feel really good.

I'm not fat but I know I would look a lot better if I just lost a few pounds and sometimes I manage to do that and then I get the cooking urge - and I am a really good cook - but the problem is I like to eat what I cookrolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
My ex used to say that it was my fault he was big because I was always cooking delicious food - but 3 years on and he is still the same so do the maths devil
I dont think it is easy for anyone to diet and I admire anyone who can stick to it - so keep on eating healthily Geoff and I'm sure you will reach your goal. You know though, most people agree that by joining a club like weightwatchers it helps because you want to be able to stand up there every week and take some praise. Worth a thought.

I have decent accurate scales at home so that's ok. I don't want to weigh myself because I lost 3.5 stone last year and I don't want to see that I'm still heavier than the minimum I got to before. It would feel very depressing and like all this work has been wasted. So that's why I want to wait a bit before weighing myself. I agree that it is nice when you see the weight come off, but I'll have to give it a bit before I get that good feeling I'm afraid.

Hi bubbly, hope you're having a good day. :)

I would love to join a group so that I can mix with other people and get encouragement from them. I wouldn't join WeightWatchers because it's disgusting how much they charge for almost nothing, but I would like to find some other sort of group. I do have issues when it comes to mixing with strangers but that's another problem that I won't get into here. moping

thats fair enough, with me i weighed myself and a week later id lost a stone, then another stone and another, and thats why the doctors are worried because ive lost so much weight so quick and still loosing. thats another part of the reason for all these tests as well.

well when you feel confident enough weight yourself then every week or 2 weighy yourself and youll be really proud seeing it come of and reading the scales.

Are there not any self help groups in your area - maybe your local health centre would know? What about swimming - good exercise and they have adult only sessions at most pools.

Wow you did lose a lot quickly.

Weighing yourself is great when you lose it, but not when you put it on even though you're dieting and excercising. I think every week is too often really although it is great to see it come off, I know the feeling well and can't wait to feel it again.

I don't know of any groups and I did look around for one. I didn't try that hard though because of my issues with mixing with groups of people I don't know. I'd then have to tell them all about my life and answer the standard questions about what I work as and where I live, and at the moment I hate answering those questions because I am judged on my answers by most people and then I feel like an outcast.

I can't tell you how much I want to go swimming and there is a pool very close to me. No way will I go though. I can't show myself off like that in front of anyone. It isn't just my size either. I don't want to say the other reason. :((((((

i did loose it quick geoff but its my illness i can only eat 2 pieces of friut a day and a yogurt thats all ive eaten for months and months, but its me being ill loosing it that fast.

i did it every week because the doctors told me to, as i was loosing to much weight to quick for no reason.

id say about once every 2 or 3 weeks if you dieting then when you weight yourself you normally see a fair amount as come off, they say around 2 pound a week so if you left it 3 weeks you would have neally lost half a stone, and im sure youd feel great then

the main thing is your doing well and sticking to it, so just keep on going and youll achieve your goal
