Godsgift: My point is that people are angry but the anger is being directed at each other whether it be the unemployed, the public sector or the loyalists in the North etc.I listened to yer man on the Saturday show saying to Edwina Curry, a former UK politician, that the Brits must be getting a good laugh because the Irish got ideas above their station and then fell flat on there face. That's prime time RTE! I see more discussion on this sort of nonsense than where the real money is going!

So I fully expect us to be still arguing in the new year when we vote in yet another impotent and incompetent bunch!

Good point!! grin that said I still have an issue with social welfare cheats and I display anger towards this always have!

everyone hates social welfare cheats...its just another example of ignorance and the uneducated frustrated guys that made huge money in england drawing multiple doles worked incredibly hard to pull it of....kinda stupid they could have just worked incredibly hard and been legit conversing must be some sort unconscious feeling of low self esteem to feel you cant make it in a legitimate way.

70Libra: It's their job to investigate. Does it really matter how they do it?

'Getting one over' on the Social Welfare Investigators is not really something to be proud of, IMO.

well i dont agree or disagree wit wot others do
i fend for my self, but then mayb i am a little touchy on the subject of social welfare as the wont allow me rent allowance so i live on lone parent and pay all my bills out of that including rent with no help from my ex either.

i was thinking more along the lines that we all say stuff on different sites that might come back to haunt us

You may have to fend for yourself but you're part of society too, don't you realise that the more people cheat on welfare the less there is to go to those who - like you - are genuine!

Rent Allowance comes from the HSE/Health Boards, not from Social Welfare... try them.

craized: I am in total shock!! You think this is funny shame on you!

Heads up? Look around you at the current economic climate where undoubtedly the social welfare system has allowed for individuals like your ''friend'' to cheat the system!!

You find this humorous much to the dismay of many individuals who have contributed to the state for many years i.e contributed to welfare cheats/scammers so to speak

The whole system failed by allowing individuals to live on a social welfare scheme i.e the whole point of the system is to assist you to in seeking employment to earn an adequate income to support yourself not the other way around!!

Two parents with two children were earning €34,000 between them in benefit!! Whereas many earn less then that yet would be employed and paying taxes to encourage such ''cheats'' and the sad reality whereby a Government should be able to support those employed now even though they have contributed years there earnings to a Goverenemnt that ultimaletly failed them by not safe guarding our future!!

i dont find it one bit funny i worked since i was 13 full time paid my taxes and all that had to be paid till i went to college 4 yrs ago, and trust me i wud love a job and be able to pay my way again i mayb made a mistake in the fact i shud have added that if social can go on facebook or other sites then who and and what else can check on us and what we do

sorry if u thought for one moment i was finding it funny as i said to someone else im out for my self just like everyone else and have never cheated on tax or anything else in my life

Eh... the Community Welfare Officer is in the HSE. They look after rent allowance. But if you're in local authority (council or corporation) then you would not be entitled to rent allowance. If you're in private accommodation then you need to speak to them again and if they refuse you they have to give a reason. If you don't agree with the reason, or the rate, you can appeal to the superintendent community welfare officer.

To claim lone parents, if you were married, you must be seperated 3 months.

The same person, or even the same office, do not deal with both lone parents and rent allowance (yet).
