they say an open forum is a good way to find what your looking for. I keep a pet snake named Isis I wonder how many on c.s. folks keep exotics here as pets. Do not get me wrong I like cats and dogs too. But you do not have any one calling the police on you because your snake will not stop barking. At 3AM. I do understand some people are fearfull of snakes. And ritely so many snakes are quiet deadly, or get very very very large and yet still others have been trammatizez by bad encounters with them. I have seen women with in a 1/2 hour overcome there fear and atleast pet Isis by the end of a visit. and the men hide behind the hems of there skert. So what kind of critters do you guys and gals have cats and dogs incleuded. Sorry rat folks I see them as Isis food.

What kind of a snake do you have? I can't imagine a snake enjoying being scratched on the head, behind it's ears? Do they even have ears?

To answer your questions she is a Dumeril's boa. No snakes do not have ears. And she dose seem to enjoy her head being held and rubbed. I have a pick of her on my profile on my arm just after she shed. She is a lovely pet. Unless your a rat then you should be a bit on edge.

I have no fear of snakes, we have lots of strange and wonderful critters in this country. And mostly, if you leave them alone, they won't come chasing after you ..

My daughter confronted her fear of snakes when we had our pic taken with a huuuuuuge python wrapped around our shoulders, it was around 10-12' long, thick as a man's upper arm and heavy.

Since then we've petted lots of snakes, reptiles etc and she's fine with it now wine

Yes most of there sensory info is dathered with there tounge.they detect vibrations in the enviroment. they don't hear you as much as feel you comeing. thats why you almost never see them in the wild. they feel you comming and scurry of befor you know they were there.

Thats cool. most pythons do not make good pets though, they can be very aggessive and get very large.

I do know of people who keep carpet snakes, and they are very quiet and keep the mice and rats down, and they say they are like a watch dog they are harmless but they have the desired effect of scaring people off when they see them, there is another snake also kept as a pet it is the Rock Python or better known as a Woma., myself i do not really like them ,but everyone to their likes.
