.....I arrived home from work this evening at 10.30pm and was just putting the key in the door to the apartment block when I felt something, a hand in fact, reach up quickly behind me and very high up under my skirt. I yelped with fright and saw a man rushing off. I struggled then to get the key to turn as my hands were shaking so much, and this same man did an about turn, and approached me again with his hand hiding his face. I managed to get inside the building, but with hindsight, I don´t think he was going to touch me again.
What on earth possessed this man to do such a thing? It´s never happened to me before, and I felt ill when I finally entered my flat, so much so that I immediately showered and threw all the clothes I´d been wearing in the wash basket even though my outer garments had only been worn for a couple of hours.
I´ve been doing a little work on the computer since and trying not to think about it, but I´m still feeling rather queasy.
No funny comments please, however well meaning they be.

You should call the police, you and your neighbors may not be safe. Better safe than sorry.

Alice_Hooper: You should report that to your local police
I don´t think it would do any good as I couldn´t give a good enough description, but you may be right and I do have students in the police so maybe I should.
I know I´m going to be quite nervous when I arrive home tomorrow night. I´m so angry now. Isn´t it strange how we go through these different troughs of emotions when something happens like this.

I sympathise with you very much but complaining here will achieve nothing other than to start a rant against men. There is absolutely no excuse for behaviour such as you describe and you need to take effective steps as a follow-up.
Did you report the matter to the police? Maybe it has happened several times before and the police could use the information from your encounter to track down the offender.
Have you contacted other people in the apartment block? Maybe he has been hanging around the location and others have had trouble with him. All good information to give to the police.
Did you contact a friend or family member to get support? Perhaps support from a friend will help you settle down so that you don't feel queasy.

Yes, and you don't want this keeping you up at night. At least the police can come take a look around maybe scare him off.
You should report it to the Police and maybe tell the neighbours about this unpleasant incident. I don't want to scare you and you have surely thought of this; he now knows where you live, the time you might arrive, etc, etc.

Glad you're ok Jan.
But I think phoning the police at some stage is a must, maybe tomorrow when you've had some sleep.

Hopefully he gets caught/help before "it" escalates... Jan I'm sure you are following all protocol with this incident.

Thanks Cusp and thanks again to all of you who have given such good advice and support.
I´m going to phone a police student of mine tomorrow morning and make an official report. I think by doing that I will at the very least be less nervous when I come come home from work late in the evening, and as others have said it may stop this lunatic from thinking about doing it again to anybody else.
