JAN_is: Thanks Cusp and thanks again to all of you who have given such good advice and support.

I´m going to phone a police student of mine tomorrow morning and make an official report. I think by doing that I will at the very least be less nervous when I come come home from work late in the evening, and as others have said it may stop this lunatic from thinking about doing it again to anybody else.

You´re a good crowd, thank you.

JAN is,
If you can't discribe him then be more prepared in the future. There's always going to be freaks and peverts out there. When walking to your car have your keys already out and door-key ready, the same with your going to your house from your car. They have Key-fab devices that can turn on your enterence-way lights from your car or if walking. If you don't want to carry Mace, go to a Sporting Goods store and ask for a 'FOX 40' or 'STORMER' whistle(s). The loudest (Key-Chain, Sporting) mouth-blown whistles made, about $4. to $8.'s . comfort GOOD LUCK

JAN_is: .....I arrived home from work this evening at 10.30pm and was just putting the key in the door to the apartment block when I felt something, a hand in fact, reach up quickly behind me and very high up under my skirt. I yelped with fright and saw a man rushing off. I struggled then to get the key to turn as my hands were shaking so much, and this same man did an about turn, and approached me again with his hand hiding his face. I managed to get inside the building, but with hindsight, I don´t think he was going to touch me again.

What on earth possessed this man to do such a thing? It´s never happened to me before, and I felt ill when I finally entered my flat, so much so that I immediately showered and threw all the clothes I´d been wearing in the wash basket even though my outer garments had only been worn for a couple of hours.

I´ve been doing a little work on the computer since and trying not to think about it, but I´m still feeling rather queasy.

No funny comments please, however well meaning they be.

OMG Jan! I am glad you are ok . Why did you not call the cops?

You have to be careful bouquet bouquet do you know him, what if he may be lurking around the area?teddybear hug

So sorry for you Jan, that happens every where.
We must be prepared. Here in Mexico I carry a pepper gas in my hand when ever coming late home.

btw that has happened to me too in a parking lot but the guy would not want to remember it. One of my brothers (who happens to be on law enforcement) was walking behind me but the guy did not see him, so you can imagine what the outcome was.

It is good that you will report it to the police and you must alert your neighbors as well.

Ask to some neighbor to wait for you at night (you can give them a phone call before leaving work)and reciprocate the favor too. We do it here.

And there is lots of info on the net to learn some facts and protect ourselves better.

Take care girl!

I´m ok and I didn´t phone the police because I thought this man was just a sick chancer out for a quick thrill. He didn´t pose a real threat I don´t think, but I have decided to report it now.

I don´t drive by the way to those who have mentioned car safety. I travel to and from work either on foot or by bus.

Thank you once again to all of you. I´m going to bed now, but with a much more relaxed frame of mind since before I posted the thread. wave

JAN_is: I don´t think it would do any good as I couldn´t give a good enough description, but you may be right and I do have students in the police so maybe I should.

I know I´m going to be quite nervous when I arrive home tomorrow night. I´m so angry now. Isn´t it strange how we go through these different troughs of emotions when something happens like this.
Can you carry pepper/mace where you live? If so, it comes in small (like a purse-sized flashlight) cans, also they have some that attach to key rings. If not, consider a small flashlight. Some are now made with a very, very bright light, just flashing it in an attackers face is enough to get a moment or two to get away or call for help. This guy is dangerous, that's a bold move he made, and indicates he would do much more. Make a report, even though you don't feel it would do any good. I am so lucky to live in a small beach town. We don't have too much of this around here. Sorry it happened, Love--please care for yourself and make sure of your environment at all times.

a man who sneaks up behind a woman and puts his hand up her clothes IS a REAL threat. Good that you aren't going to brush this off. Gosh I'm worried about you. Am praying hard for your safety. I count you as a tangible friend.

Jan_is..I'm so sorry that you had this happen to you.

Is it legal to carry mace or pepper spray in Spain? If so, get some as quickly as possible.

I agree with the other poster's that have advised you to call the police..you've been victimized and this person needs to be caught, cuffed, stuffed and prosecuted....you deserve justice!

Jan, can you have someone walk you home tomorrow from work.
Or as Life said, call a neighbor, they need to be on the look also.
I lived in a apt. and there was a peeping tom. A ladies husband would patrol at night with a baseball. That made us ladies more comfortable.

I would use your car key as a weapon when walking around as well as pepper spray.

He did violate you and it really upsets me that he bothered you.

Take care,
The DObe please
