The Atheist thread brought this to mind......... Sometimes we have experiences we cannot explain, they sound whacky .. but they happened.

Any of you ever experienced something like this?

I used to live in a house which we thought had a ghost.........several experiences over the years led us to think so. One night I woke up in the middle of the night and saw what I can only describe as an unevenly shaped form shimmering next to my side of the bed. It was about 5' high and looked like a mass of gold 'bars' which seemed to shine. I had an overwhelming feeling of peace and I'm sure this was a visit from my guardian angel as I was going through a very stressful divorce at the time.

Interesting, Maisie, thanks for sharing.

What made you say you "thought the house had a ghost"? What were the experiences that made you feel this?

Good that you had a comforting feeling of your own personal experience.

Funny how these strange things happen when one is most stressed and worried, hey?

Aaahhh C`mon Ginger, try and explain some of them, or even one?

I`ve had real crazy ones. Well, ONE specific crazy one. Almost like an hallucination, except all I`d had was my ordinary dinner and a most benign legal cigarette! hahahaaaaa .. but then again ... the moon was full, and I was outside, gazing at it, and pondering the vagaries of my most un-eventful and unhappy life, at that time ... and then I was transported into a mode of viewing a "video" going backwards in time, right back to before my birth .......... and seeing the reasons for having the parents I had .......and their reasons for having their lives ....... whacky ... real whacky .... very interesting .... and I was left with a most peaceful and fullfilled feeling.

Several things happened over the years.............lost keys etc which turned up, clothing going missing then appearing where I'd just looked...........someone tapped me on the shoulder in an otherwise empty kitchen...........a bed cover taken off the bed and found in the morning neatly folded feet away by the door......my son saw the torso of what looked like a young girl in a maids uniform crossing his bedroom (he was in the attic which used to be servants quarters) and disappearing through the wall, lights turning themselves on and off........all a bit creepy but was a completely different feeling when I saw this shape by my bed that night. It made such an impression on me I can recall everything about what I saw and how I felt at that moment, it was not at all frightening.

Oh wow, thanks.

Funny how we don`t seem to re-act when it actually happens?

Almost like it`s accepted, and only afterwards we think "Hey wow, WHAT was that? Did it really happen?"

Once, long long ago, I lived in an old farmhouse, and sitting in the kitchen, we would hear thundering footsteps coming up the passage ..... but we were all in the kitchen. Somehow, it did not disturb us, and when the noise subsided, no-one seemed concerned ......dunno

Now, when I think back ....... that was serious stuff!

I went specifically to America once for such an experience and I wasn't disappointed. Short version is, that I went into and "ecstatic" state, where I could hear, see, and smell, with unbelievable intensity. I hadn't known that each blade of grass has a unique smell, as has each tree etc. (No wonder dogs get excited).

I don't do drugs of any kind and this was in the middle of a nice sunshiney day, and was witnessed, as was the fact that all noise stopped, to the point where I thought I went deaf, and so did my witness......... It lasted about 3 minutes, as my companion timed it.

If it were the 60s it would have been LSD induced, and called a psychadelic experience, but none of those things were involved. I was just in a relaxed meditative state, and it wouldn't have explained the complete silence anyway.

Other things happened too but I won't relate them here, because one of our CS members is twisting things I say and using them to try to make me look crazy, and a laughing stock in front of others. Nasty sick person that she is.

Just want to say thanks Smoky for making me feel welcome in coming back here for a short visit.hug bouquet

Oh, many times. The last one happened today. A week ago I phoned our house caretaker and told him than floor warmth in the bathroom stopped to work, the floor is cold. Today he phoned me and explained that there never been any in my flat. I neighed as an elk and said that the whole house has, and I have had floor warmth until recent. Or was it some kind of “Floor-geist”?

Haden’t time to discuss the subject as had an appointment for the car examination. And am busy tomorrow as well. But I’m inclined not to let the subject go – will try and keep you updated.

Sure I really experienced several times things I could not clarify. In dreams, in daytime also in the evening, walking in the field or in the woods or just sitting outside on the terrace.

Hi smoky. Countless times, to the point that these days, I just start to smile/laugh to myself when some such event happens yet again. Minor examples are the few times I've run out of petrol, the car floats into the petrol station, coming to a halt next to the bowser. Getting a flat tyre in the middle of isolated bushland, then choosing one dirt road over another, just to be led to a gentleman's golf course where I could call for help...

The best ones were fairly recent times where I should have gone to heaven, twice: On one occasion I was standing well away from traffic lanes, where I'd stopped momentarily to answer my 'phone, and I had the rear car door open just enough that it rests against my hips. A sudden explosive sound sees my car my car door flung open, its solid metal edge bent like a sardine can when you pull back the ring. But all I felt was the huge gush of wind in my hair and against my legs - but I was untouched. A witness saw that a car had overtaken another from the left, collected my car door and just kept driving. I had been a hair's breadth away from going to heaven. I knew I had been 'looked after', again.

On a second occasion one night last year, I parked my car outside my home, and was going to rush out and open the gates to drive it inside. For some reason I decided to park it partially onto the footpath, so that the car was well within the bike lane instead of one of the car lanes, and despite little traffic around. I opened the car door, stepped out but remained seated, as I decided to look for something in my bag, not even sure what, and put my leg back inside. That very second, a monstrous semi-trailer that had obviously veered into the bike lane, collected my car door and left it mangled. Had I stepped out as originally intended, I would have been history. Apart from being in shock, I felt the unmistakable presence of something divine. Again.

I've often said the devil's after me, but he ain't gonna get me!angel angel

Many experiences. Still amazed by the most recent. I live alone in rural France. Developed severe headaches and became very ill. Finally sent for help via the British Consulate.
2 Gendarmes turned up. And did what they do ie. look Cool and bored. When the ambulance came the para medics said just to take aspirin and let them go home. But one cop was not happy and insisted I be seen by a doctor who came soon after. He asked had I had head injuries lately and I remembered slipping and smacking my head on the stone kitchen floor several weeks previously. At the time thought a nasty bump coming.
Next I knew I was in the ambulance and rushed to hospital.
Emergency surgery to remove blood clots on the brain.
If it hadnt been for the Gendarme I would be dead.
Angels can come in many guises. Never would have imagined one dressed as a cop.

My mother was diagnosed with cancer 2 months before she died. A day before she died we talked on the webcam and everything was fine, we talked, we laughed. On the christmas day she told my sister that it was her time to go, she told my sister to help her paying her debts to 2 people (bought cakes forgot to pay), and she told my sister to tell me not to come home and instead giving the ticket money to the poor, she wished to be buried the next morning, and after she went to the bathroom, took a bath, cleaned herself and went back to bed and died. Just like that....

She was in Asia and i was in Europe i was thousand miles away from her, and the worse was i had to respect her last wish for not allowing me to come home only for the funeral and instead giving the money for charity! I was angry with her for that wish and in the morning of her funeral (after midnight europe time) i was sleeping during that time when suddenly awaked because i felt her presence in my room, she was stood near the door it was more like a shadow, didn't say anything but i could feel she was saying goodbye to me... I know maybe none of you believe me.. but it was not a dream... or even if i was hallucinating it was so real... crying

many many years ago, my mother bought me a white racing bicycle for my 18th birthday.

that summer, my birthday is in june, I worked at a company not too far from my house.
it was very warm and I took my bike with me.

I parked my bike in a special area made for company bikes and put a lock on it. it should be safe and secure for there was this man looking after this area.

I started work for a few hours and never thought of the bike.
then, suddenly, the bike came into my mind around lunchtime. A strange and eerie feeling came up and I remember laughing at myself to have these thoughts.

went to lunch...finished my work for the day and took off to ride my bike back home..
but it was stolen. around the same time I got that eerie feeling as later came out during police investigation.
(nowadays you don't even have to bother going to the police, but this was ages ago)

I will never forget that feeling of something taken away from me.
since then I trust my intuition strongly.

and my dead auntie visits me in times of danger. She appeared to me twice in my teens and now she makes sure I smell her perfume to let me know she is there. When I suddenly smell chanel no 5, with no one around who wears it...I know she is there and it makes me feel more alert to things and events that are happening.

I think in Cyprus you have a very good shrink called Mikellides, go and see him, he might be able to help you.

In all seriousness, When I was about 3 1/2, I was moved from MY bedroom to my sister's, as mine was going to be decorated.

Ever morning that I was there, I remember waking up and seeing two lights glowing before me. Red and Green. These were buttons. If I pressed the Green one, my dream would continue the following night. If the red, another dream....

My sister (who was older) actually caught me doing this one morning and told mum! SHE (my mum) used to see things and merely shrugged it off. The night before I returned to my bedroom, I had a VERY strange dream in which I was told that I had a 'gift' and the approximate age I would die.

Please remember, that I wasn't even 4 years old, yet this stuff made perfect sense to me!!! To this DAY, I can't work out how, as a toddler, I could understand the meaning of those concepts.

Now that is really weird! Interesting to know what the outcome will be......? DO you have underfloor heating...? .... or do you not...?

This is really in the "here and now" .... so look forward to hearing the outcome, Tule.

Danny, thanks for your contribution here.

Ja, sometimes, sometimes...... beings we think are "people" are not actually real people?

Could this be part of that Biblical thing where Christ says "I was hungry and you did not feed me" ... "I was freezing and you had two coats" ....that sort of thing? We may never know ..... is this suffering person a Real person, or is it God in disguise.....?
