jem1964: no worries Tarnz, you just get sick of people trying to brainwash people to their own view, as theirs is the only opinion that seems to matter.

I am a non smoker, and always have been, but grew up with a mum that smoked and lived with a partner for 13 years who smoked.

some people choose to smoke, others choose to eat, others choose other vices, some legal, some not.

but we all should have respect for other peoples choices and have tolerance for each others vices

Marry a smoker then

hey normalguy, do you ever read all the post??????????? or just what you want to see???
I lived with someone for over 13 years, legally a defacto marriage many times over, so what in the hell is your point??

smoking is a choice, this is a free country where people still have a right to make their own choices, how about you accept that???

or is just inconceivable that people have a right to make a choice without people stuffing their own views down everyone's necks???

there is enough signage on cigarette packets, and enough taxes for any smoker to make their own decisions, how about you just let them live their own lives

you are just flogging the same poor dead horse over and over again

i just quit on jan 1st (2nd time around and this time for real as i aint even using the tablets this time). I'd been a smoker for 37 years but i was kissing a smoker last week and omg i thought i was going to get sick, was really revolting. I actually thought I could be with a smoker but now I have changed my profile to wanting a non smoker.

I get that feeling when I kiss an ashtray too, yuck.
Feeling sick isn't what kissing should be about.

For will power, you need a reason to form your will power.
This forum if anything has offered advice from ex adicts, advice from stats and advice from people who can't break their adiction.
It's a bit like fat people, they don't want to be fat, so why do they eat cake and chips?
Will power to say I want to be skinny, I'm giving up my carbohydrate adiction to soft drinks, beer and starchs.
I'm doing what the veggetarians have known for years and eating more veggies and less carbs. More water and less dairy.
Same if you want to give up smoking, you need the reasons why.

Cancer
Less lung capacity leads to less oxygen for your brain leads to less brain function.
Your prospective non smoking dates are turned off knowing you're a smoker
Your clothes wreek and disscolour
They're bloody expensive and send you broke
I could go on but these are all the reasons other ex adicts mention why they got the will power to give them up.
Putting the price up to $1 a cancer stick will be the biggest incentive to give them up.

Have you ever been addicted to anything other than your own ego and opinions.
Ive worked with people with a drug addiction in a professional role and they have all said its harder to give up nicotine than heroin.
And as for "fat people" (your rude words) not everyone has a diet of "cake and chips". Many overweight people have a history of depression, hormone problems etc so i suggest you try to have a little sympathy for those who have problems you obviously dont understand. boxing

Deppression can be caused by being fat and by the diet you eat not giving you the essential vitamins and chemicals necessary to function at your mental best.

usually weight gain is the by product of depression, it then goes on to deepen the depression. but in no way is it the only causation factor.

Depression is caused by many factors, both physical and psychological.
Relationships, chronic illness, past happenings as well as medications all cause depression. and so many more I could list.

Stop insulting people who have or are suffering depression, real depression is not something that a person inflicts on themselves, there are a range of things that will trigger it. And not just someone feeling sorry for themselves coz things are going their way, that is not true depression.

if you had ever been in the seemingly bottomless pit, struggling to see any light, you might have some comprehension, hopefully you never will.

Normalguy for a man who has access to so many books you really do have a narrow, uneducated mind. Start reading instead of posting. typing

So you're saying fat people who become skinny people aren't happy?
I believe skinny people have less deppression than fat people.
BTW, I can use the term fat as I was 118kg 6 months ago.
I'm 86kg atm and still losing weight all due to the Liver Cleansing Diet, too easy to follow.
Anyone who is after the daily regime I have followed, I'm only to happy to let you in on the secret as I had tried to lose weight before to no avail, but you need to know what your current food and diet is doing to your insides 1st like your liver and these things are so vital for your existence.
If you tax them like I was, issues like deppression and colesterol, Type II diabetes, heart and breathing issues will occur.
Why do people go to health food shops?
Surely not to be healthy?
Why do people exercise?
