It's a simple way to choose your date I know, but I hate kissing ashtrays.
How do others feel about dating a smoker?

Tell them to brush their teeth .. wink

Seriously it goes both ways, if you are a smoker dating a non smoker, then isnt it just a courtesy to make sure that you dont stink, taste like barf or smoke all over them.

In the end, if someone has to run outside and have a ciggie every 5 minutes then they've got a problem.

Not only the smell the thought of watching someone kill themselves would be hard to take , not to mention the finacial burden smoking would place on a relationship , but end of the day its the stench even when in range without lip action....yuk barf

I am a non smoker but I dated two guys who used to smoke.....but now I am more picky and if someone is a smoker it does put me off.

Also, I look at it from a health and personal character's point of view. I mean smokers knowing what smoking does to them yet still do it...to me it is a sign of weakness and ignorance and even selfishness....as partners of smokers will have times when they cop the second hand smoke at times as well. Not to mention, possibly having to deal with their smoking partners' future health related problems, and possibly watching them suffer and even die due to lung cancer. Plus let's not forget the type of example they show their kids.....if parent smokes, child may be influenced as well.

So no, I could no longer be with or date someone who smokes!

I lived with someone who heavily smoked for 13 years, I hated the smell, taste and stains on the walls from it.
The place I am in now, the people who were here before me were heavy smokers, so the walls are stained and horrible.

If it does that to walls, what is it doing to their insides.

I get the idea that smokers say it is their bodies and it is their right, but I also have a right to clean air as well.

My preference is for non smoking, but if the person is the right person I guess I would come to a compromise as I have in the past.

but it is certainly nice not smelling like a ashtray all the time even though I didnt smoke

Good points Belle72

I smoke(Ther'e organic) and luckily throughout my life thus far I have been a very healthy individual- so many Women and Men even younger than me are fraught with old injuries or health problems and forever popping pills for this and that.Strong smells of various disinfectant ,sprays ,perfume and even deodorants do effect my nasal glands. with all those poisons about one wonders what they are doing to us.

I will not date or kiss a smoker.

Good point though Belle above, When I met a previous partner (Stepping stone to true love) I used to wear musk based aftershaves and Rexona musk underarm deodorant, I loved the musk smell and I thought it suited my skin type.
'
However within a few weeks of dating and other things I found that my partner would ask me to shower before we met and before sleeping wink and I asked why?

I found out that she was allergic to musk and it gave it her migraines.. so I just changed brands, style and deodorant, it was no skin off my nose to make a small change to save what became a 10yr relationship.

Smoking however is a different story, I personally can't cop it as I have chronic vaspomotor rhinitis and it affects me very badly (I can barely breathe) so I choose not to be around smokers at all.

Smoking is a disgusting habit !Not only is it offensive but just rude to expect someone to have to endure it especially when now it is easy to quit !
