Enjoying it.
What's to enjoy?
I'm of the opinion around 50% of the members hers are smokers.
This would limit your dates if you cut out all smokers?

And just on the point of taste... as some of you know i am in the Wine industry and over the years have banked up a wide cross section of smells and tastes in my memory bank and have mastered the ability to separate these- I can overcome the cigarette taste and others when i am looking at adjudication wine.
I have come across many people in my career(young/old)that find it difficult to differentiate different tastes and odours - why ... because if they dont like something they dump it from their intake and do not explore other possibilities forever caging themselves to the comfortable norm... I wonder how many other areas of this precious journey they arrest... Kiss an ashtray ... hey Babe my lips/mouth/tongue are a hellofa lot more than that and as for the rest of me I am much more than a cigarette smoker and all the negative things about it...

CuspofMagic: Yes Kizz , valid points... the point I am making is that some people who choose to smoke cigarettes are much more that a walking ashtray
Look magic, as you say, it effects in different ways, i don,t smoke, and when you walk into a room or make contact with someone who smokes, it hits you, and sure it is not against the law to smoke, peoples views will differ, so i just say a smoker is not for me, but it does not mean i do not like the person, i just say also see all points of view and i will to.wave

thumbs up

this is just such a polarising issue, there are no winners and the only losers are those that are deliberately and culpably putting lives at risks, themselves!

On second thought.. the big tobacco companies are the winners as are the govt with their exorbitant taxing of tobacco products. mumbling

well said MBR and both the companies and the govt fight to make sure they dont miss out on those royalties.

This issue just proves we are all individuals, we all have our own likes and dislikes, and all make our own choices as to what we want or can put up with.

For 13 years I was a passive smoker to a very heavy smoker. It affected my sense of smell, and as taste and smell are related, it affected my taste as well.
I hated the fact when I went out for a day by myself after about 3 hours of being smoke free I could smell it upon myself even though I didnt smoke.

Even years after leaving that situation I still have items that hold that smell no matter how I treat them. But thankfully I have regained the nuance of smell and taste that were compromised.

My home and car are now both smoke free zones and will remain that way. Anyone can freely make the choice to smoke, just as I make freely the choice to try not to be in the company of smokers.

Too each their own

Shell225: there are countless things that turn us off another person, if someone doesnt like the smell of a smoker then dont date one.

Personally I cant stand men who spit OH and when guys do that thing where they suck all the snot back down their throat For me that makes someone undatable and unkissable.

Rest assured that everyone has something about themselves that someone else doesnt like or find desirable.
The spitting one is a turn off, i was watching cricket on the T.V our cricket captain when he fields spends most of his time biting his nails and spitting in his hands, and it is continues , but also as you said if you don,t want to go out with a smoker don,t, and that is my choice, people ask for opinions on the subject we are never going to agree on it, but we are entitled to give our thoughts on it.wave

So i ask men or women to keep everyone happy, will you go out with a gambler, or a heavy drinker or a person who swears a lot, a person who has no real dress sense, a spitter , we could go on and on, but the question was would you date a person who smokes, people will get upset on both sides, but in the end people are can give their opinions because it is a FORUMdoh
