vodla3: As you said "i do think about people",but then how is possible that your ethics allow you to work in the gambling-industry.
You being aware the gambling is an evil, yet you helping that?! evil to prosper?!
YOU&GAMBLING first,never mind the victims!

vodla, Im not sure if you read all of sailor post, she explains how she has had to take someone aside and ask them if they can afford to lose anymore money. And has to do this as part of her job.

Gambling like smoking is an addiction, by personality, not by drugs. It is a choice the same way smoking is.

Are you saying that anyone working in an industry that has affiliations to gambling is evil????

People have to earn a living, sometimes in industries that are not so pleasant.

A Buddhist would find working in an abattoir repulsive and evil, but that doesnt mean the people doing the job are evil. They are just serving a means

the gambling and alcohol, tobacco industries are all about one thing..

MONEY.......

If RSA was policed the way it should be, then we wouldn't see legless, paraletic people on the streets or in pubs, clubs. One thing will have them thrown out, not the consumption of alcohol they have consumed, the anger that comes with the alcohol and the fist happy attitude it show joyfully brings.

I have seen many a time, consumers at bars ordering drinks and being served them, when it is very obvious its time to close the bar on them $$$$$$$$$$

Interesting though, with the gambling industry how much money is too much money and to what people, and who judges how much?

How do you police that? Mr Smith is a millionaire that doesn't really care how much he loses.

Mr Jones is on an average wage, and is behind in bills?

I'd like to know, as I have thought about this many times.

I think RSA is a load of rubbish.

And I must admit the world would be a much nicer place without all the angst and bitterness that this topic has created. It was started in the hope that it could create some positive discussion, but not matter how many positive arguments are given we still end back up at the same thing.

This is not the post you started about smokers v non smokers, i didn't ask you to understand anything, you came into this post and took a cheap shot at my views. If you took the time to read the views others expressed in the post you started (didn't post in the thread you started) but if you read and respected the views that disagreed with your view, then you wouldn't have come into this thread and posted what you have.

I do not subscribe to a Christian view on health, i study suffering and I do listen to the constant harmful crap the AMA are daily pumping out our media, They publicly pump there rubbish out. And there for views that I have every right to disagree with.

hellosailor: It a a law in S.A that you do this, it is a part of my job, i do seminars and courses ,and if i fail to speak to people about their Gambling i am not doing my job, please understand, that when we see problems we do try to help, not belittle, it is hard to say you have a problem gambling or drinking, help is there, we can only advise, in some cases we can Ban them from entering the premises again.

I understood you hellosailor, and I am pretty sure it is law in most states that people have to have their losses brought to their attention.

all you can do is bring it to their attention, you cannot force them to do anything.

the old adage, "you can lead a horse to water, but you cant make them drink" Everyone, and everything has a choice to make, and it is theirs alone to make

I suppose one way of solving gambling in the Casino is to charge mmmh lets say $200 to get in (About the price to see a show) The person then receives as many chips as they want (but only once) to a limit of $2000 worth of chips. If they have the same amount or more when leaving they get their money refunded...

I did not take a cheap shot at your views, I only questioned that one small statement of yours was a little melodramatic ie "Its otherwise called murder" and mentioned that stopping someone from taking up smoking is not going to "murder" them as you infer.

I have started neither thread you have mentioned, I like you am expressing my opinion, but I am not making personal aimed remarks.

I have not belittled your beliefs, in fact I keep repeating you have a right to your beliefs and actions. Just as I have a right to my beliefs and views.

Democracy is a wonderful thing, there are always a minimum of two view points and democracy allows for them to be voiced.

Just because you dont have the same beliefs as I do doesnt mean I think less of you or any other bad connotation, it just means I am using my right of free speech the same as you.

oh ok i accept: i said "and i believe happy to kill off smokers in an attempt to discourage young people from taking up the habit. Its otherwise called murder"!

some how leads jem to think:

But I do feel you are tending towards the melodramatic by saying that discouraging people from smoking is murder. Ok, you argue that smoking doesnt cause the illnesses that the AMA say it does. But what health benefits are people going to be missing out on by not smoking? And how by not smoking is it going to murder someone?

I'll leave that for others to decide what was or not said

evidently my bad thing that I like is to express an opinion in a forum of free speech!laugh

I love a good cocktail, Midori splices come to mind, yum, all the bad stuff... alcohol and cream... bad for the hips but soooo nice for the tongue. (it does have some good stuff in it... pineapple juice, but we can ignore that!)

Love a good port, actually found one called Old Codger, brought for my brother for christmas for the name.. but we all agreed it was bee-autiful

Cheese... did some one say cheese?? where, where... let me at it!

Hmmmm men in leathers... hmmmm, funniest story of that I have is in November last year, one of those steamy hot days, I was riding home from work, in my full wet gear as it was thunderstorming. Around the corner comes a Harley rider, you know the ones, all decked out in the shiny chrome mufflers etc. And the rider isnt looking all that happy... why??? coz he was dressed up in his summer leathers, complete with sleeveless vest to show off the non existent chest hairs... which of course if they had existed... were plastered to his chest in the torrential rain.

I evaded the shower of the puddle that a car was going through...
he didnt, he wasnt very happy at all motorcycle

It certainly made my day!
