Personally,I´m not an expert with online-dating,and never believed in that.... Therefore I´m surprised that so many people really believe it works,-and maybe it does,-for a few.....
Also surprised,-that when a profile text tells me how "larger-than-life" this person is,-it surely needs to be questioned... If so,-why even bother to join a dating site?
Do anyone honestly believe, that the one you see on a computer screen is the same person IRL.... Let´s face it,-anyone can tell you anything, but will it be the same thing in reality...
Now,I´m not an expert on humans, but many times it´s so easy to see right through people,-you can almost tell who´s a bluff or not....
It´s quite easy to be "perfect" on a dating site, and creating an "alter ego",but I doubt that hardly anyone is that very same person as soon as they sign off.....
And can you really be sure that the one staring at you from your screen really is the "real thing"....
And if you´re such adorable person, why do you look for love on internet?
What makes you fail in real life,-there has to be a reason for it.....
Of course theres a difference. Online is two dimensional...face to face is three. But this is a great screening tool to determine if you want to get...three dimensional with somebody.

Venus is right. It's a great tool, especially for women.
Personally, I am currently limited in my dating pool due to living too far from the major population hubs in this country. Though I am working on remedying that, until I do CS will provide a significant part of my dating pool. CS is practical for me.
The internet is simply ONE avenue to connect with people.
How you conduct yourself is up to you and if you think that its only possible to connect with people by pretending to be someone other than yourself - that's actually pretty sad.
I've certainly come across many different people in my time on various sites ..... most of them are genuine and hopefully through my experiences I've learned to avoid those that are insincere/crooks etc.
Personally I think the same thing can happen in real life as well - people can be genuine or total fakes.
I guess what puzzles me is that if you yourself are so skeptical of online dating/connections .......... why are you here? I've seen a few posts wherein you trash these types of sites and the people who choose to engage and interact within them. Surely in all your time, there has been the odd person who strikes you as being genuine .....
