Ken35: If Northern Ireland didn't receive over 5billion sterling from westminster annually it would be a complete backwater, its absolutely unmanagaeable.

It wasn't a sell out, it was a fair settlement.

People here think that all is well in the Statelet of N.I.?
Just google "The Ardoyne". Watch the videos and footage but more importantly read the comments on each one. Nothing has or will change in the near future. Education and a revision of it is what is needed.
The hatred in the comments is unbelievable from both sides. If you are averse to very bad language then don't visit this on youtube.

homegnome: I grew up there. Tell me about where you spent your summers with your extended family. I might know and understand your views and opinions a wee bit more. This is a fair request I think you'll agree. Ah Go On! Give us the details. You don't have to give up any personal info. Just give me an insight as to what you saw and experienced.
Ah go on Blarney! I might understand what you're talking about if you let me know.

NOt that I'm obliged to explain my opinions or my childhood to either of you, But was spent with extended family in Warrenpoint both working in their business and playing Golf...... Sometimes the opinion of those not actually living there has lets say more clarity and less bigotry attached

In reference to some vote that didn't happen.......

It was imposed by the British state, not created by the will of the people. It was established by a 1920 British Act of Parliament for which no one in Ireland ever voted. What the British government thought of democracy can be summed by what Prime Minister Lloyd George wrote to Lord Carson in 1916 : 'We must make it clear that Ulster does not, whether she wills it or not, merge with the rest of Ireland.' The people of all Ireland were given no say.

Snowlynx. You are a shining example of one whodoesn't know what he's talking about.
I know it's against the rules to mention names but you are so uninformed it beggars belief.

Well in my experience Republicans always say that about people who disagree with them!

homegnome: I was born there and grew up there. Can I just ask that if there was a referendum given to Nationalists in the north, how many would vote to join the Republic?
I'm just asking because I used to be a Civil Servant in Belfast and think that a lot of Nationalists who have done well would be reluctant to vote 'Yes'.
This is not only a question for people from N.I.
All opinions are appreciated.

a Referendum would be a good idea if the dissidents agreed with it and whatever the outcome is they should accept it, If there was a referendum the unionist majority would almost certainly vote to stay part of Britain so the dissident republicans wont get what they want so they will continue planting bombs and murdering people, just yesterday a 500lb bomb found in a van on the motorway outside Newry sigh

What sort of experiences did you have in Warrenpoint that makes you so knowledgeable, Its almost exclusively Catholic just like Newry is, If anything you would have seen the army treat the nationalist community like dirt
