This looks like any other churh but inside holds a gruesome secret. It holds the bones of up to 40,000 humans. I visited last week & here are a few pics i took : ( afraid they are a bit large, unable to shrink )
I entirely agree - cannot understand why they would turn something like that into a tourist attraction & even worse actually encourage you to take pics

So, what drew you to go there and take those pics?

a lot of cementaries run out of space and yes the old graves get exumed..but the bones get stored away.. but this is I think is just sick and a church and then to turn it into a tourist atraction...how much worse can it get ?

Saw it on a tv travel show a few years ago & didn't actually believe that the public would be allowed somewhere like that. You know what i'm like when i get something like that in my head so just had to check it out ( difficult place to find though ).

I assume the bones are very old and anonymous - I mean if a recently deceased loved one was used for art without permission, I could understand that disrespect.
Personally, I think its a very pragmatic and inventive way of using what is essentially a waste material.
I quite fancy the idea of being immortalised as an art form after my death, but then I don't fear death, or ghosties and ghoulies.
The Skull Tower (Serbian: ???? ????, Cele Kula, Turkish: Kelle Kulesi) is a monument to 19th century Serbian rebels. It is situated in Niš, on Constantinople road, on the old Constantinople road leading to Sofia. The tower was built with the skulls of the Serbs killed during the 1809 Battle of Cegar by the order of Ottoman Sultan Mahmud II.

Yes i bet there are several of these types of places somewhere in the world. Grotesque & morbid & not everyone's cup of tea. Glad i had my visit to Kutna Hora but would have no reason to return again.
