EarthAngelinLove: Scooting outside for some fresh air...finally starting to warm up, been cold & wet for over a week....woohoo....wlll check back in later
Mother Nature played a nasty April Fools joke on us here yesterday. Five inches of snow before it changed to rain for a short while. 40's the next couple of days to melt it all away.
venusenvy: O god I miss drive-ins...They were the best time! All the kids bundles into Pj's and warm summer nights...sigh...they seem to be dissapearing sadly
Hey little lady... ....Everything is changing to make it easier to get what you want. We don't walk to the store, or to get a movie or just to walk in the fresh air. It's all easily ordered within the walls of our home. We don't even have to go to Blockbuster anymore to get a movie. Just push a button on your remote and you have a movie. Blockbuster and Netflix will eventully go out of business due to getting movies directly to your tv with ON DEMAND.

Snuggs09: OMG.....drive-in movies, what a great time
Cartoons at intermission
Everybody going to the stand for popcorn at intermission
Finding a good spot for the speaker on your car door and sometimes it didn't work
Guys and gals making out
Last time I went to a drive-in was probably 1962 the same year I got married
All the drive-ins are gone just like all the other fun things from a time when we were just people having fun
Saddle shoes, crenolyn skirts, bows on our hair poneytails, it's all gone
I know of at least one that is still in operation in NC, Albamarle. This is the one Earthangel is talking about I believe there are still two here in NH as well. They no longer use the speakers you place on your window. You now have to tune your car radio to a certain frequency to hear the movie.
I think my first drive-in experience was going to see The Jungle Book or either Clarence The Cross-Eyed Lion when they first came out back in the 60's
venusenvy: I remember those the "all nighters" and I remember as teens we would sneak peeps in the trunk to avoid admission
That's right Venus, the guys usually got in the trunk.
There's a John Travolta movie, I think it's Grease, when he goes to the drive-in with Sandy. That scene is so right on point of what it was like in the drive-in. Brings back great memories thinking about it.

Are you thinking of Carrie where Travolta's girlfriend gets him to steal a bucket of blood from the slaughterhouse by giving him a BJ in the car?

No, I'm sure it was Grease. I'm sure you've seen Grease. John and Sandy were at the drive-in and he puts his arm around her hoping to move his hand down the front of her. But Sandy keeps moving around in the car and John never gets his feelup. Sandy (Olivia Newton John) played the part of a good-two shoes and it never entered her mind that people went to the drive-in to do anything other than watch a movie.....

The last one I think was Batman: The Dark Knight
The first drive-in I ever saw was Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

O Man you would see al the cars lined up on the side of the road, and every few cars you would see kids hopping into the trunk. With all the whispering and giggling Im sure they knew they were there, but They would just roll thier eyes and shake thier heads and wave us in...Then you would see kids hopping out of the trunk everywhere.
I know what a drive in theatre is simply because there has been one in my town for over 50 years. It will be here for a long time to come as far as I can tell too. We have one of the three left. I am not sure where the other two are, but I know that it was in the Atlanta Constitution Journal one year about these phenomenons.
If you have one where you are, does anyone know where the other one is?

What was she thinking
I actually have the DVD of Grease and haven't watched it for years! Maybe tonight with surround sound and some chocolate and ice cream!

When was your last drive-in flick, and if you don't know what these are..then you're too young to know how much fun they can be
I know you can rent movies, I Love Redbox, but for me the Drive-In will always be my favorite
